It's a great engagement and transparency channel. You can pre-vet employees and they can pre-vet employers!
About a year ago, I posted a job to hire a storyteller into my social business adoption team. Of course, I tweeted the posting so that I could make others aware of it.
You have more way to get to know the person and his/her skill. You can easily ask 2nd opinion from someone else
#socialbiz practice is the honey that attracts brilliant bees.
A woman saw my tweet and applied for the job. She then connected with me to alert me to her application, in a way that was engaging, rather than intruding. She told me her story.

She got the interview, and then I had the chance to check out her social channels. I learned so much about her, including that she had recently faced some interesting personal and professional transitions.
One org I know uses #socialbiz to attract smart folks AND weed out the inauthentic duds. #doublebeebonus
I hired @maxwelllauren a few weeks later, and she's been an amazing addition to team IBM #socbiz!
You're able to learn so much more about what makes someone click by what they tweet and post on Linkedin than you would on a one-page resume.

@kushaanshah social tools allow you to share what you're doing/thinking not just what you've done (resume, CV)
One big org checks profiles not to weed out b/c of partying, rather b/c that implies they're well liked.

Thru ambient awareness, we as hiring mgrs get a sense of people's rhythms & approach to life.
