#AI is going to be a super-hot topic at #VMworld Europe – we’re looking forward to welcoming @ProfBrianCox, @JoeBaguley, @KathrynParsons and @alexJC for a star-studded panel! What role in society do you think AI will play in the future? 🤖
Amit Panchal
I hate to bring the marketing message home but human machine partnerships is where we are going. AI has a role to play but we must retain some control. I’m interested in the thoughts of the panel as well as any books they recommend around the subject. #VMworld
Joe Baguley
Augmenting humans with AI will definitely be discussed.
Andreas Peetz⭕
@amitpanchal76 I agree keeping control is very important. We need to have strict rules in place and hard coded in a way that it is impossible to break them.
Amit Panchal
@JoeBaguley I can’t wait to hear more. Autonomous decision making is one thing but a human brain can make rational and sympathetic decisions so will be interesting to see how AI tackles this.
Joe Baguley
augmented emotions...
Arjan Timmerman
#AI is going to play a very huge role in society in the future. Keeping control will be key, but it will happen!
Amit Panchal
now you got me thinking @JoeBaguley. This conversation can go deep. I’m more interested to see how @VMware can innovate in this area.
Robert vdNieuwendijk
Who is taking part in the hackaton?
Robert vdNieuwendijk
@VirtualG_UK Can you already unleash something you are going to show in the hackaton?
Graham Barker
Well.. it's top secret but it will be Powershell & API themed (And it may or may not involve a game) ;)
Robert vdNieuwendijk
Which parties are you going to attend?
VMware UK
we're looking forward to hearing The Kooks at #VMworldFest!
Andy Nash
vmware uk obviously
Joep Piscaer
The Benelux Party of course, sponsored by the @NLVMUG
Garry Owen
Press/Analyst, Marketing. I have to confess, I've been given an invite to the Veeam Party too - don't know if I'm allowed to say that!!
Andy Nash
so Sunday’s #vrockstar, Monday Rubrik, Tuesday #vexpert and @VMware_UK, wednesday the party = sorted
Joep Piscaer
Who's excited for the Hands-on-Labs? What lab are you taking?
Chris Bradshaw
"What's new in vROps and vRLI" Expert-led-lab for me. Both products I use a little and hopefully learn how I can get more out of them. #vRealize
Andy Nash
As many as I can for Cloudcred I’m especially excited for lightening labs
Gareth Edwards
@andynash99 same as you and I am also looking forward to the Wavefront and IOT labs
Paul McSharry
Who is taking a VMware certification at VMworld EU? Which one and why?
Arjan Timmerman
I would go for #VCP-CMA
Andy Nash
I might give VCP 6.0 a go
Amit Panchal
What 1 thing would you recommend to first timers at #VMworld ?
Arjan Timmerman
Don't fill all possible slots with sessions, try to reach out to peers and try to start a discussion, or ask your questions as well... And don't be shy!!
Joep Piscaer
also, check out this list of social activities: http://www.vbrain.in...
Garry Owen
Definitely - you need to treat VMworld as a marathon rather than a sprint. If you fill your calendar completely with sessions, you'll burn out. Make sure you allow at least some downtime
Andy Nash
When out of the venu protect your wallet I have had my pocket picked on a bus last year 🙁
Gareth Edwards
I would say keep hydrated and keep your water bottle full where possible and maybe a pack of multivitamins
Megan Warren
A comfy pair of trainers!! Your whole body will ache by the end of the week but treat your feet well!
Joe Baguley
I'm with @BizTechMeg - really comfortable shoes. I would really like a segway... ;-)
Megan Warren
@JoeBaguley segways would be incredible! Although I feel I would be quite dangerous on one, especially in such a confined space!
Paul McSharry
What is the one tip you would give to someone who has never been to VMworld before?
Chris Bradshaw
it's got to be "wear comfortable shoes" :)
VMware UK
plan your time in advance (and wear comfortable shoes). Two tips there... but both very important!
Robert vdNieuwendijk
Use comfortable shoes, drink a lot of water and don't spend all of your time in sessions. #vmworldcrowchat
Kirsten Cox
Give yourself enough time to explore the Solutions Exchange, exhibition areas and entrance hall - there's always so much going on!
Andy Nash

Joe Baguley
@YourCloudHub agreed, I never get enough time to hang out in the Solutions Exchange. So much going on in there.

Did you know it’s our 20th birthday this year? 🎁 As we grow, we’re expanding and innovating into emerging areas like IoT, artificial intelligence, machine learning, edge computing… Which are you most excited to hear about at #VMworld Europe?
Amit Panchal
I’m looking forward to hearing from Professor Cox on the AI panel. Should be a visionary conversation.
Arjan Timmerman
MultiCloud as well as AI, BlockChain and IoT
Gareth Edwards
I agree @amitpanchal76 I would say this is one of my highlights @VMware_UK
Andy Nash
20th birthday will there be 🍰 and present 🎁
Joe Baguley
@andynash99 Very nice of you to offer. I like Victoria Sponge.
Arjan Timmerman
What topics are you looking for this year at #VMworldEurope and is there something missing that you'd like to see discussed with the #vCommunity or a #vExpert #VMworldCrowdchat
Paul McSharry
Anything HCI - Design and operationalising concepts are always useful for the field
Andy Nash
VDI horizon and app volumes, UEM as well
Garry Owen
So what are the key technology areas you want to hear a new perspective on?
Amit Panchal
blockchain obviously and all things AI
Garry Owen
Anything else, anyone?
Garry Owen
Mmmm - I think all of you might be in luck!!
VMware UK
@amitpanchal76 #AI is definitely going to be one of the hottest topics at #VMworld this year... lots of amazing sessions and panels to look forward to!
Chris Bradshaw
I'm interested to hear new ways people are using the regular #VMware tech- server/storage/network virtualisation.
Garry Owen
Did any of you see the Pat Gelsinger talk at the 2018 'Best of Breed' conference a few weeks ago? He made some very bullish statements about the IT security market: "I think security vendors have failed our customers in the past", and ...
Garry Owen
"I want to disrupt everything about the security market."
Garry Owen
That's pretty aggressive positioning - it'll be fascinating to see how that's backed up in both keynotes and the 'Transform Networking and Security' Solution keynote
John Furrier
I"m always interested in trends in #hybridcloud and #multicloud
Amit Panchal
Name 1 thing you’d like to be improved for this years event compared to previous one’s you’ve attended #VMworld
Chris Bradshaw
an extra day would be nice. My schedule is always bonkers
Garry Owen
I'm not sure my feet could stand another day - I'm normally left with bloody stumps ....
Gareth Edwards
I would say Wi-Fi in some areas and more bean bags in the bloggers / lounge area ;) @amitpanchal76
Andy Nash
better coffee especially on Monday I have almost starved on some Mondays as im not a partner so can’t get in to partner events
Robert vdNieuwendijk
Better Wifi at the general sessions.
Amit Panchal
I’d agree @andynash99. More refreshments for non partners on the Monday.
