What are the biggest things slowing down adoption of #hybridcloud in most organizations?

Michael J Dorosh
FUD, not knowing how to leverage what they already have, security and control perceptions.

Ron Kline
It may be getting their arms around the fact that they are already “accidentally hybrid” by virtue of the fact that organizations outside of IT are engaged in cloud activity. You need a strategy that embraces where your are now@IBMSmrtrCmptng

Eric Aquaronne
many clients have security concerns, and also wonder about what to own and what to rent

John Furrier
@boniamd just brought up data issue that's huge

John Furrier
this thread ties data and security together as on core issue https://www.crowdcha...

The move to hybrid cloud
For the customer who already run their virtualization (such as VMware), what's the step towards the Hybrid Cloud?

btw I am not sure slowing down is right, most clients have been thinking in terms of hybrid all along, but it is a matter of where they start and how fast they can get to an integrated cloud management environment – maybe that’s it – integr@IBMSmrtrCmptng

Frank De Gilio
@mjdblue I think the work it is going to take to make traditional IT and move it to work with Born on the Cloud is going to take time

Beth Taylor
Side question to this one... How much of the pace is slowed down by the historical messaging vendors and consultants have used under a tune of private vs public?

Michael J Dorosh
@degilio Agreed. But I am amazed at what they can do with the low hanging fruit.

Paulo Carvao
Skills...

John Furrier
gr8 pt @rfk5 it's growing oppty and many want to go faster but cloud is being operationalized fast. Lots to consider depending on legacy tech etc

Niharika Trivedi
Skills and security

Michael J Dorosh
@pcarvao skills is always an issue - the right skills and enough bodies to be effective

Frank De Gilio
@BethATaylor20 Perfect - I think that most business are trying to figure out what vendors are saying

John Furrier
@BethATaylor20 love that pt. vendor fud but also understanding which workloads and use cases to put in public cloud is key; shadow IT has been happening for years. Harnessing that is key objective and changes the definitions of cloud

Michael J Dorosh
I've seen lot of partners/customers move to a SoftLayer bare metal box a recent deployed private or trad app with very good success and little rework.

Frank De Gilio
@mjdblue Definitely - The need to be attacking this space because that is how they are going to learn and grow

The real problem I see with taking traditional IT and moving the business model of using it as a service. That is harder than the tech...

Michael J Dorosh
@degilio Oh yeah. Business model is hardest inertia to overcome.

Frank De Gilio
@furrier Agreed - And making sure that those decisions don't compromise the business

Frank De Gilio
@mjdblue And critical to successs

Eric Aquaronne
and never forget the human factor : when moving to a hybrid model , some jobs / roles appear in the company

Ron Kline
@BethATaylor20 Good observation, definitely a move towards discussion both together..meaning hybrid

Dan Anderson
@EricAquaronne And can disappear, Eric! Good point!

Kyle Wurgler
@danpanderson I see a big problem being organization and paradigm change as inhibitors

Dan Anderson
@degilio Was having a separate discussion of public vs. private necessary, tho, just to help clients digest what cloud is and could be? Just as hybrid is necessary to define the area between them?

Frank De Gilio
@danpanderson Yeah - when I work with clients I focus on what problems do we want to solve - the cloud aspect comes in when you talk about the art of the possible with them
