Jonathan Cordwell
Great to hear how the CSC community is leveraging the support of the ResearchNetwork. I like to consider ourselves an integral part of your extended teams. We're always looking for ways to improve and welcome your feedback. #csctechtalk #in
Chris Fangmann
Still we need to work on internal marketing. To me today's low participation is a real shame; I have no understanding for not jumping for the great work RN is doing to support nextGen sexy technology stuff
Jonathan Cordwell
We're holding individual forums with account teams and industry leaders but would really benefit even from just a company wide knowledge of who we are and what we do.
Chris Fangmann
We need to brag on all channels.
Martin Lee
And as noted in the session, it really helps to have a dialog to discuss what the objectives are, what is being accomplished, and what type of format you need in output so that they can go straight into your deck with little change.
Sherri Hartlen-Neely
@ChrisFangmann We also need people like today's speakers and yourself to spread the word. We can shout it from the rooftops but the word of our clients is priceless!
Yogesh Khanna
Chris, Just like people increasingly are watching TV shows at their own leisure, my hope is that many across CSC will review this hangout on their own time and learn more about what RN can do for them.
Lisa Braun
@scronizer What kinds of research reports is RN working on? I heard you mention that in your opening.
Joan-Carol Brigham
We publish monthly in all the industries. We talk with the industry strategists to understand their needs going forward and act on those subject areas.
Tony Mataya
We are primarily using RN for customer planning reports which provide a significant amount of data about the industry and the client business which we use in workshops
Jerry Overton
We have a number of #DataScience projects queued: pipeline prediction, finding cross sell opportunities, next-gen skills... go to C3 for the full list.
Joan-Carol Brigham
We are also embedded int eh IRB process, research on those solutions is coming out on a regular basis
Aaron Field
RN's JC Brigham just completed a landmark analysis with Gartner on the market size and growth in all of CSC's markets. A true first for the company!
Jen
We are workings several federal and commercial deals that provide a deep dive competitive landscape. Also working on a number of account plans driven by industry.@LisaAnneBraun
Tony Mataya
I have worked with Sue recently to provide data for the CSC strategic planning effort.
Joan-Carol Brigham
The RN C3 site houses out work by industry project area. Feel free to browse through that -- really good examples.
Lisa Braun
@tonymataya Got it. Sets the context you need for understanding the business or industry.
Jen
Helping to shape the deals are a priority of the RN sales team! Encourage everyone to engage with us to better understand your position in the RFP.
Tony Mataya
Yes if we do not deeply understand the customer's business, we are just selling offerings. Understanding the business helps us to put together high value solutions.
Lisa Braun
@jcbrigham How's it going with the IRB process? Can you give a specific example of the kinds of market analysis you provided?
Tony Mataya
@scronizer It seems like we have done several planning reports in an industry, maybe we should think about doing some proactively by industry and having them ready.
Jen
Important point to mention is our analyst engagement with Gartner, IDC, Ovum and the like. We work hard to further provide insights to you via the analyst. What are they saying and how does effect your project.
Arthur Liu
I believe our completed research deliverables are all posted to the RN space in C3, so always a good idea to search there
Tony Mataya
@JenConway1972 The amount of info available from those data sources such as IDC, Gartner, etc is amazing and we appreciate you guys coordinating and providing access to it.
Lisa Braun
Any interest in doing thought leadership reports that are external? Does that fit with your charter?
Tony Mataya
@scronizer As Yogesh mentioned, the experience of the analysts seems very deep. Could you provide the profile of a team member? I was surprised of the experience when I spoke to one of the analysts.
Courtney T. at CSC
@tonymataya We do provide a bio of each member with any deck of work we send out, but maybe we should include these on our C3 site as well?
Jen
@tonymataya We provide a biography on the analyst(s) that supported the project at the end of each deliverable. We also have bio information on our RN C3 space.
Tony Mataya
@AaronFieldCSC I thought the same thing regarding crowdsourcing the work. It all depends on the crowd that is providing the input. lol.
Aaron Field
Can we nominate people to leave out of the crowd?@tonymataya
Jerry Overton
@AaronFieldCSC Lol. You...out of the gene pool!
Sue Cronizer
@tonymataya Great idea Tony. We should put up bios for each of them on C3. We have been including them in their deliverables recently
Chris Fangmann
@JerryAOverton fact based Darwin Award?
Jerry Overton
@ChrisFangmann Whole meaning to "genetic algorithm"
Aaron Field
Nietzsce - "What does not crowd source makes us stronger."
Rick Wilhelm
Is all of the research activity client/proposal directed?
Jerry Overton
Some are operations focused like our efforts around sales and pipeline management.
Jerry Overton
@JerryAOverton We've even done a series of instructional videos on topics like data science, published on our YouTube channel.
Sue Cronizer
we certainly support client, RFP and proposal development but we also supporting strategic planning, the various transformation programs - Sales, Offerings And Technology as well as HR initiatives
Sue Cronizer
We recently completed research around hiring and retaining millenials
Lisa Braun
@scronizer So it really is across the board.
Arthur Liu
our vertical focus has helped us develop industry expertise as well
Joan-Carol Brigham
One area we work hard to complete is in doing foundation market and competitive analyses by industry and major portfolio area. This comes from the strategy group
Joan-Carol Brigham
We like to think these are the report you take into a meeting "under your arm" to answer those questions about market size and competitive positioning.
Byron Miller
We are also involved in supporting our offerings... including helping them prepare for interaction with the IRB
Sue Cronizer
We really struggle with getting the word out. Any recommendations on how to get us beyond word of mouth?
Rick Wilhelm
nothing succeeds like success... getting RN contributions included into case studies would be good
Paul
Maybe use CSC Buzz and feature a "research piece of the month" or something similar like "top 5 topical topics" that can be picked off the shelf and used
Shannon
I did a brief presentation during CSC Way to Sell training, which is still word of mouth but drew a great response and interest from sales personnel.
Lisa Braun
Maybe some C3 announcements and/or a feature story that appears on C3 home, in addition to Paul's Buzz idea.
Chris Fangmann
that's part of what I meant with some of my comments, Sue. Show Sales how RN supports increase of rev and it'll be a self-runner
Sherri Hartlen-Neely
We also just started - this week - adding links to our analysis into CSC's internal The Source. The information we're providing there is tied directly to the topic area (banking, manufacturing, consulting, etc.). That should kickup some internal awareness
Sue Cronizer
@phowarth001 We do contribute to Buzz but not regularly and consistently. Great idea @shartlen ....
Lisa Braun
Oh, I know: Take the Research Challenge! Some fun challenge to get the word out and get people to your materials.
Kyle Zellman
maybe we could put the recording in Buzz
Sue Cronizer
@ChrisFangmann Yes we struggle with the ROI statement - increase rev - we contribute but its tough to say we're the deciding factor
Chris Fangmann
Have you applied data analytics to find a better foundation for ROI statement?
