Q3: What are the most valuable insights to derive from stored data? #ILEADIT http://www.via-cc.at...

Jo Peterson
Research tells us that organizations that leverage customer behavioral insights outperform peers by 85 percent in sales growth and more than 25 percent in gross margin.
Bob E. Hayes
Most valuable insights are about your customers! What drives their loyalty (behaviors and attitudes).
Allan Zander
A.3 1/3 That’s going to vary, depending on the industry. What is available today is this: if you can think of the question you need to ask, there is a way to get the answer. #ILEADIT
Allan Zander
A.3 2/3 When it comes to gaining the insights you want, the important thing to consider is whether you can make the data ready—for example, by putting it into a system like Hadoop, Splunk or Elk—and accessing that data with in-memory management tools. #ILEADIT
Allan Zander
A.3 3/3 Generally, most people want insights about their customers. That’s why sales and marketing insights will typically yield the most valuable information so you can sell more to more customers faster. #ILEADIT
mike d. kail
The insights that improve customer interactions and drive revenue opportunities
IBM Storage
Data insights can help drive business decisions... How quickly you can access your data is important too!
Craig Mullins
Value varies depending on your industry, the actual data, its accuracy, and your ability to model and understand it
Jamie Dennis - jamieadennis.com
Who is using the data, what they are using it for, how is it improving the organization
Steven Dickens
@ajzander agree, but it needs to inform the client interface also, needs to transform the client experience to move the needle
Jo Peterson
@ajzander Excellent point Allan and it can make a huge difference in revenue streams
Dez Blanchfield
@bobehayes - I read this in your latest research in fact, do you think this is going to be made easier on the Mainframe platform where data is safe and scale is native?
Bill Mew
trend analytics doesn't need to always be based on new data or live sources. There is value in historic analysis too - its sometimes called learning from history
Craig Mullins
I always say that the value comes from no longer relying on decisions to be made by the HiPPO, but instead based on actual data.
Craig Mullins
@craigmullins Oh, and HiPPO stands for Highest Paid Person in the Office
Tony Flath 🎙 Podcast
Q3 figure out how to harness the #bigdata leverage data scientists early #ileadit
IBM Z
Customer insights are always important, but more critical is accessing them fast when you need them most.
Bill Mew
Mainframes may have a part to play, but we need to be realistic on how large that role will be
Stephanie Freyer
FAST insights in key industries like banking, healthcare, where real-time data is critical
Craig Mullins
You know, with streaming data the data does not even need to be "stored" to glean insight from it.
Tony Flath 🎙 Podcast
@BillMew hey Bill great point and great to see you #ileadit
Dez Blanchfield
@craigmullins - that's such a great point, stream analytics is so often misunderstood.. do you have any examples you've done lately?
Craig Mullins
Haven't worked on any streaming apps lately. But IBM has some good information on the topic, particularly with its IBM Streams offering
Dez Blanchfield
Q5: What is your, or your client's, key IT priority this year? We want to hear about them all! #ILEADIT http://www.via-cc.at...

Jo Peterson
• Moving from operating IT to innovating business operations
IBM Systems
We certainly want to hear about them all!
Craig Mullins
Well, I saw a recent survey (can't immediately recall from where) that listed improved security as being at the top of the list for IT shops in 2018
Stephanie Freyer
Seamlessly transforming their data center to meet modern demands
Bob E. Hayes
Getting access to right data in order to do the right #analytics using #AI.
Jo Peterson
• Swapping owning software for leveraging interlocking solutions across an ecosystem
• Shifting from managing teams to growing an inclusive, confident workforce
• Changing the focus from keeping the lights on to delivering differentiation
Craig Mullins
@craigmullins I looked it up. The survey was from the 2018 State of Resilience Report conducted by Syncsort & Vision Solutions
Jo Peterson
@craigmullins Oh for sure Craig. Its totally top of mind
Jamie Dennis - jamieadennis.com
Security is on most IT organizations minds these days. Look at job postings, or webinars, whitepapers, etc, and Security dominates the categories. Also DevOps is a big topic on their minds..
IBM Z
Definitely security.
Corisa Smith
@PriceAmanda AI for the win! And IBM #PowerSystems is winning that game 😄 https://ibm.co/2jhqO...
Allan Zander
A.5 1/2 I am hearing a lot about cost reduction this year. Many people are talking about cutting costs to help them lower the cost of computing to do more with less. I am also hearing a lot about reducing risk. #ILEADIT
Allan Zander
A.5 2/2 Large systems, for example, may have software that has mutated over time. As system maintenance cycles continue, inevitably, more risk gets introduced. #ILEADIT
IBM Systems
@craigmullins shout out to @IBMZ and Pervasive Encryption for "improved security". 😉
Craig Mullins
It would be interesting to see if budget align with these priorities or not
Jo Peterson
@ajzander Allan, you are killing it with the thoughtful, awesome answers
Steven Dickens
@IBMSystems now that is a tweet I can get behind!!!
Steven Dickens
@ajzander interesting TCO is less a part of my conversations these days...
Neil Cattermull
security not only in infrastructure but also data and code. Not many distinguish between them!
Jo Peterson
@NeilCattermull Yes! And how cloud changes the whole security plan of years gone by
Dez Blanchfield
Q1: In the context of technology. What immediately comes to mind when you hear "modern infrastructure"? #ILEADIT http://www.via-cc.at...

Jamie Dennis - jamieadennis.com
Hyper-converged Infrastucture and Cloud
Bob E. Hayes
I think of the #analytics pipeline... getting from data to insights.
Craig Mullins
in-memory data, cloud, AI, blockchain
Jo Peterson
Modern enterprises that are in the business of utilizing data and leveraging the capabilities of a modern IT infrastructure.
Craig Mullins
Oh, and APIs, continuous delivery, and DevOps
Corisa Smith
I may be biased but the first thing that comes to MY mind is #POWER9 😍
Neil Cattermull
cloud, AI or code as infrastructure Dez?
IBM Power Systems
We are always thinking modern infrastructure. For us, that's #POWER9 and AI capabilities.
Steven Dickens
@craigmullins Blockchain and the infrastructure support it is front of mind for me right now
Craig Mullins
Infrastructure implies a LOT of stuff
Dez Blanchfield
@craigmullins - hi Craig, do you have any Use Cases or Examples you can share where you have done this before?
Jo Peterson
@bobehayes Thats a great point Bob. What would be a stellar example of this?
Craig Mullins
Well, z/OS Connect is being used to API enable mainframe apps at a lot sights
Craig Mullins
And if you are using v12 of Db2 for z/OS then you are participating in continuous delivery
Dez Blanchfield
@craigmullins - absolutely and the thing I love is that SO SO many things now run NATIVE on the platform, such as Hadoop, Sparc etc etc ;-)
Bob E. Hayes
@digitalcloudgal I would consider @IBMWatson to be an imporant part of the infrastructure that leads from data to insights.
Jo Peterson
Most of large enterprises are already experiencing massive growth in the amount of data they handle. This requires infrastructures that can evolve (both scale up and scale down) to meet the demands of the changing needs. What are you guys seeing?
Allan Zander
A.1 1/2 Lots of things, actually. I tend to view my workforce as a productive asset. Too often, #IT is thought of as a roadblock. But I see modern infrastructure as something that enables revenue and reduces costs. #ILEADIT
Steven Dickens
@digitalcloudgal interesting that you mention scale up, this is often forgotten...
Allan Zander
A.1 2/2 What costs me $10 today to make $100 will tomorrow cost me $1 to make $10,000. That economic multiplier effect is what’s important. Then, concepts like open, distributed, #mainframe, mobile, cloud, and data just fit into that equation. #ILEADIT
Jo Peterson
@ajzander Great response Allan
Neil Cattermull
The future is code as infrastructure! Auto deployment, auto creation and self healing!
Jo Peterson
@NeilCattermull Ah now look at you getting all smart future on us :)
Erika Hernández
The mainframe! It's holds digital transformation together.
Steven Dickens
its not your fathers mainframe!
Tony Flath 🎙 Podcast
hey mainframe is getting pretty sexy in the #cloud again
Derek Britton
for me the word is hybrid. Wherever it is needed whenever it is needed
