Telematics in cars seems to have the potential to disrupt the auto #insurance business, but what other areas will be impacted by the availability of concrete, individualized data? What new #insurance products could/will be developed? #Journey2Digital
Chris Fangmann
Individual policies, ad-hoc additions (including short term for e.g. longer rides)
Lisa Braun
Digital health is all about leveraging concrete individualized data, aggregated and anonymous, to get to better outcomes for individuals and to better manage population health at large.
JP Morgenthal
I know of one car company that is teaming with the healthcare industry to allow monitoring of blood pressure and glucose from the steering wheel. That could dramatically shift patient care and rehabilitation.
Carl Kinson
Disconnecting from the Car, and thinking about the Driver, adapting a policy based on driving behaviour captured through personal based apps. @khzellman
JP Morgenthal
In my experience in the US, this data typically works against the insured than for them, but, hey we can hope that changes to more driving better outcomes
Chris Fangmann
@ckinson Ask any #insurance company what they could think of if they had access to the data - you'll be surprised
Dan Hushon
there are so many #connectedcare with fitbits and connected health devices, digital mining bringing safety devices into a mesh, even the work being done by @MotorolaSolutions around first responders
Kyle Zellman
@jpmorgenthal That's incredible. And a glimpse into how we ourselves become "digitized" through the quantified self phenomenon.
JP Morgenthal
Yes, we are walking sensors, probably the most complex and definitely the most data rich
Soren Helsted
imagine what you can get from e.g. the apple health app with loads of connected sources... just plug your app into the data
Sorin Costea
@sorenhelsted I'm not even sure there's enough theoretical work understanding all possible correlations
Claus Ljunggren
My Withings scale should - besides turning my Philips Hue-lights green - give me a discount at my health insurance when I am below a certain threshold :-)
Martin Lee
iPhones are collecting health information all the time, and as developers add new apps and ways to gather data, that should help individualize solutions
Soren Helsted
@sorincos and imagine the cost of misinterpreting data... and possible class action law suits for insurance companies that have selected customers based on criteria that proved wrong
Sorin Costea
@martin3lee like "build the data and they'll come"? That could create a huge data pond...
Sorin Costea
@sorenhelsted that's why they call it "hard science"...
