Data Center trend for the future: smaller, high-density modular data centers. @MikeJLevy
CenturyLink Business
Container-ized data center the way to the future?
CenturyLink Business
Move from raised floor to modular still under evaluation for the future. Any other thoughts from the crowd?
timguillen
Used to raised floor – still some perception issues with modular @jabeztan87
Michael Levy
Operations is the most important component of your data center!
David Shacochis
Operations = Humans...
Wendy White
which is why Uptime certification is critical

The criteria for evaluation include: Staffing and Organization
Maintenance
Training
Planning, Coordination, and Management

POE is super important and it impacts costs

Future of Datacenteris software-led datacenter - orchestration of compute, storage, network to support the applications - control plane
Brian Mirise
Agree John... good to see you here
John Furrier
hey @MikeJLevy cloudification of colo - great term
Brian Mirise
This dynamism is already occurring in datacenters like switch
John Furrier
at the Open Compute Project Summit the notion of build your own and software operating system software is interesting but is that ops or cloud or both?
CenturyLink Business
Hello -- from the Cloud Development Center in Bellevue, WA -- where are you joining from!

I think as interactions with technology infrastructure begin to trend toward the programmatic, i wonder how important a vendor relationship will continue to be versus the relationship with a homogenous service (API) stack...
Brian Mirise
which could certainly be multi-vendor

Q: Will enterprise IT want single pane of glass across DC, co-lo, cloud? or end up with multiple new mgmt silos?
John Furrier
the control plane is a huge issue; gr8 question
David Shacochis
@MikeJLevy Probably smaller companies to start out with...
Kurt Milne
Taking cloud experience and applying it to datacenter. Integrate through API DC management and Cloud management. @MikeJLevy
Kurt Milne
DCIM practices rickle down from co-lo to DC. Analytics and efficiencies on PUE side.
John Furrier
. @kurtmilne Do APIs open up a can of worms or does it help?
Kurt Milne
APIs are getting better. Seem to simplify.
Kurt Milne
Datacenter consolidation continues. HW refresh driving strategic decisions - outsource, replace, cloud?
David Shacochis
Great question! Hardware inside of hardware...
Brian Lewis
It seems that we will need to get to much higher levels of standardization before we can get to higher levels of automation. We need some guidance from the ISO to establish standards otherwise vendor lock in will be created out of automation integration.
Wendy White
"cloudifying colo" < taking on demand capabilities and applying it to the data center.
Wendy White
Geeking out on datacenters right now with @MikeJLevy and @jabeztan87. #experts https://www.crowdcha...
