@mhexcalibur - I agree with the terminologies. Find confusing sometime. We need to ubiquitous language and understanding. This has been called out in number of @ITRevDOES #DevOps Enterprise Summit presentations.

I agree about the mindset across the organization and thinking that IT is a cost center while it is not. Upskilling is a must as well because humans of DevOps drive the successful digital transformation.

That is an interesting point as well. How we fund initiatives within our IT departments. Example like CAPEX and OPEX etc,

too much focus on tools at times, resistance to change, one size fit all approach

1. Leadership alignment, 2. Team alignment, 3. Establishing with governance one or a few model lighthouse application(s) for all enterprise apps to follow.

Allowing leaders to accept that it's ok for them and their employees to fail, as long as the environment is setup to minimise the blast radius. #TheDigitalCoach

It comes with the discipline as well on how we identify the wildly important goal for period of time, the lead activities and their measures plus the cadence of accountability across the organization. How an organization ensure that strategies are well aligned at team level. ;)

@mbiswajit - I agree with you, most of the time our organizations purpose are buried behind the tools. Excellent point

We get carried away with Technology, Tools and purpose forgotten. Do we really put our customer in every processes, thoughts and actions.

@DevOpsLeaderPH - The size of the problem that we are dealing might be different depends on the organizations, culture, regulations and compliance.

VSM platforms such as Plutora can serve as a common backbone for plugging in other tools as pipelines evolve.

It will help on improving some aspects of the end-to-end flow. ;)

I am not aware of any universally agreed scale of cultural readiness/maturity. Surveys and such will give you an indicator of the cultural levels but certainly falls way short of a formal "assessment"

I am not aware if there is any but I believe we follow the lean techniques about VSM and who knows we will be having a DevOps VSM after a while and after these conversations? Let me know if you know anything. I am only aware about Value Stream Mapping from DOI. #UpskillingVSM

I've used Atlassian JIRA to create stories and features and measured how they flow through the development value stream. You can use cumulative flow diagrams to understand where you may need to optimise.

I have an DevOps Assessment sevice using a seven step alignment blueprint that leads organizations to focus on the specific waste that will best serve their business goals for the next leg in the journey of a specific organization.

You can also do the same with a physical Kanban, but it becomes very manual to measure.

KanBan is good anywhere.

@DigitalColmer i am fully in favourable for physical kanban. Ofcos it ends up as a lot manual work, but helps to visualise... Great way to start with..

I use Kanban as an implementation management tool while in the "realize" phase of the Seven Step Transformation process

I use Kanban to manage all the work for small, medium and large initiatives. The most important thing is to visualise ALL the work...including people development activities.
