I'll kick it off.. What do you think are the list of "problem statements" facing connected cities/homes?
4R1U5
reliance. What happens when that connection is broken and there is no alternative due to reliance on the connection?
Xavier Larduinat
5G will bring an aggration of several networks, thus reducing the risk of zero connectivity solution at any given time. That's the goal
Crowd Captain
power & connectivity are the big issues.
4R1U5
@xlarduinat Should we not rely on a safety net regardless. All technology has a fail factor. Even if it's human error. Looking forward to 5G regardless of course.
Helen Keegan
issues around privacy - who has what data for what purpose and do you trust them with all of that?
John Furrier
great answers I've been seeing more and more the problems statements aren't about the technology bc the silo'd approach vendors take is not always solving a new horizontal bus solutions
Xavier Larduinat
Security and Privacy issues are clearly top considerations
John Furrier
another things that's a data point is the platform & tools in tech are not always the fit for a horizontal scale requirement. everything seems to be vertical
Helen Keegan
Also issues around artificial intelligence and the decisions being made on our behalf by the algorithms
GadgetsBoy
Security and privacy is huge, you are basically giving access to your entire 'connected' life
Xavier Larduinat
The 5G standard is preparing for massive IoT with the necessary interoperability.

connected cities can be hacked and the data, users, and connected devices compromised.
mkube
Trust and security. With all the recent news around security breaches, trust is essential in this brave new world of smart cities and the IoT. Trust in security but also in realiability of a connection..
4R1U5
What if security could be managed on the client side and not the service side. And if not, who do you trust with your data? Corporate or Government?
H.
@4R1U5 I suppose it has to be the right "mix". u will require security on both sides...just varied based on the application/use case
⚔️⚔️⚔️ kyaaS⚔️⚔️⚔️
connected cities could allow government/corporate (if sponsorship is allowed) entities to track individuals and their behavior
4R1U5
@HaiderME That would be an interesting concept. Encoded handshaking can be very useful. There definitely will be a "mix" of security ownership.
Sebastien Violette
whatabout users acceptance/reluctance/awareness?
Xavier Larduinat
Welcome everyone #CL2025 We'll get soon into the discussions

That's 6am for you! I'm impressed

Up early getting the news. I shared on LinkedIn as well for this connected chat - #smartcities

are we allowed to take coffee? :)
