Matt Eastwood, IDC
My pleasure John. Was fun...
John Furrier
I am still reeling in the Pats victory what a game
Simone Brunozzi
Goodbye everybody! Thanks for joining us!
John Furrier
If you want more time I can extend the chat
Dean L.
When will VMware allow consultancy partners to sell and install NSX for their clients? Rather than VMware taking up the engagement?
Oliver Roll
We'll need to come back to you on that one Dean.
Dean L.
No problem, I want to jump into the NSX space as soon as possible! Levelling up my skills as I type
rogertfortier
partners who have professionals that are trained and certified in NSX can do this today.
rogertfortier
the Install Configure Manage course (ICM) is the once you want to start with
Oliver Roll
Give me a BOLD technology prediction for 2015 #VMchat
Oliver Roll
And any predictions from those of you with us online?
John Furrier
1/2 the VC backed enterprise infra startups go under or get acquhired
Joe Baguley
Consolidation will accelerate in the IT Vendor space
Matt Eastwood, IDC
Integrated Infrastructure Drives Vendor Realignment
John Furrier
the post-SDDC/Hybrid cloud music slows down and many companies not having a platform will be rushing to get married or find a chair when the music stops
Matt Eastwood, IDC
Disaggregation Delivers Best of Breed Solutions to SPs
Oliver Roll
Matt - elaborate on your vendor realignment point
Matt Eastwood, IDC
SDx Redefines Procurement and Management
Joe Baguley
There will also be more disruption in the hardware space as convergence becomes mainstream
Matt Eastwood, IDC
Customers prefer and evolutionary path. They expect their infrastructure suppliers to work together and solve the next gen DC challenges.
John Furrier
maybe not so bold but security will continue to be huge issue with no real solution in sight yet
Dean L.
@joebaguley I remember you saying supermicro will be next big sponsers of vmware events and not Dell and HP etc? Are we getting there with the likes of EVO:rail and Nimble which is a supermirco chassis?
Joe Baguley
@saintdle Dean, we get closer every day...
Dean L.
@joebaguley how do you see the like of Dell and HP and others reacting to this market shift?
Thomas Bryant
Year of VDI? Oh wait nvm
Joe Baguley
@saintdle I think that is a question you will have to ask them...
Dean L.
@JoeBaguley I wanted the hardware agnostic view ;) I will try asking them though :)
Oliver Roll
So let's talk about 2015. What are major developments do you see on the horizon for enterprise in 2015? #VMchat
Joe Baguley
"Prediction is very difficult, especially if it's about the future." - Niels Bohr
Joe Baguley
What I can talk to is what is planned...
Simone Brunozzi
End User Computing is growing FAST. VMware (with acquisitions of AirWatch and Desktone) is in a great position to ride the wave.
Matt Eastwood, IDC
This is a repeat from me, but @IDC sees disaggregated physical infra, convergence/fabric, SDDC and open tech redefining both on prem and off prem datacenters.
Simone Brunozzi
I also predict that "Hybrid" will be more common than "Public", when talking about Cloud, for the first time ever.
Christian Bateman
@simon Partnership on DaaS with #Google and #NVIDIA an interesting one to watch.
John Furrier
2015 and beyond will be the innovation in the networks - the Google partnership is mostly a "barney" deal but that is the direction - take their network and developer mojo and blend it with vmware and magic!
Matt Eastwood, IDC
We still see 80% of IT spend going into maintenance. This is going to hold a lot of folks back.
Matt Eastwood, IDC
people and process need to change. Automation needs to be embraced. Re-training folks will be critical to survival.
Simone Brunozzi
John, Google + VMware is actually much more - customers have access to both environments and products. It's going to be HUGE.
Christian Bateman
@furrier disagree with you on Google/VMware - the combination of vCloud Air Enterprise features and google big query could be a game cahnger
Simone Brunozzi
BOLD technology prediction? Wow. So hard. Emergence of AI in our daily life (mostly mobile) by end of 2015?
Christian Bateman
@matteastwood + 1 on automation is needed. Screwdrivers don't scale.
John Furrier
I agree but from a product standpoint it's a barney deal; I was cool with that deal but the real action is in their peering and network assets and developer traction that's the gamechanger
Ian Noble
more people will move to current generation hardware and software allowing them to deliver more to the business and faster
John Furrier
The world #liquid made its' way into the preso - fluid must mean realtime http://www.via-cc.at...

Joe Baguley
Question - what is your favourite feature of vSphere 6? What did we miss?
John Furrier
vMotion is the sexy feature but still lots to do there in term of the long distance piece
Bjoern Brundert
increased limits for vCenter Server Appliance
Doug Hazelman
I don't think my favorite feature has been made public yet :-)
Joe Baguley
@VMDoug Cryptic Doug... ;-)
Dave Simpson
