Listening to Prof. Boncz, as a programmer I too have seen architectures and complex systems (e.g. big data) that felt "like black magic" until I became comfortable with the tools that supported them.
MapR would be great for that! Especially because recommendations are formed from highly interconnected webs of relationships between people and groups of people (preference-to-preference.)
Norris believes that as MapR focuses more on developer tools, such as the sandbox, that developers will find more reasons to try it out and realize just the sort of capabilities it has. Thus leading to greater adoption.
