#CSCchatman5/28 Social Media VibesSocial Media @ CSC | Chat about Social Media Practices and uses for the company
J O V.
I'm currently working on a baseball player card project for TechCom to have select CSC team members featured on the cards with fun facts and such and you have to meet and speak with them to get the card and add it to your "collection" and provide an -
John Furrier
I would love to work with you on sharing our ideas on this "virtual networks" engagement space
Jerry Overton
I like that. Maybe we could have a scavenger hunt game that promotes connecting with each other.
J O V.
@JerryAOverton you get the idea, thats exactly what im aiming for
Crowd Captain
@JerryAOverton is there a good tool or CMS to build these kinds of ideas?
Lisa Braun
The baseball card project/scavenger hunt concept needs to work both in-person and for virtual folks. I think that's what you and @jfurrier are saying. Maybe borrow ideas from #geocaching.
Crowd Captain
@JerryAOverton their was awesome quote by @danhushon "there is truth in crowds"
John Furrier
@JerryAOverton this changes the notion of influencers and it takes a long tail distribution meaning that influence chgs when topics change
Jerry Overton
@CrowdCaptain Yeah, like @DanHushon's take on public convo's being more trustworthy. Would like to see more "ask me anything" Crowdchats from @CSC leaders.
Lisa Braun
@JerryAOverton So broaden the notion of the @CSC Town Hall.
Jerry Overton
@LisaAnneBraun It's a shame that I can only vote for this post once. I think SoundBites and Town Hall should join forces.
Lisa Braun
@JerryAOverton They sort of do...but I have to think about that and what you really mean. Many of Dan's include crowdchat & are featured in the Soundbites schedule. Expand that?
Lisa Braun
Hi Jov--Are you live?
J O V.
Yes, Goodmorning Lisa
John Furrier
hey lets get the juices flowing
Lisa Braun
Can you lay out the general focus of this discussion? Is it CSC overall or TechCom or something else?
Lisa Braun
I think open forums like this--using open platforms like CrowdChat (Twitter) and G+--are good things to keep doing.
J O V.
I want this discussion to be about CSC overall and possible new ideas with the company on a social level. So things like social media interaction or projects that need more light shown on them
Lisa Braun
With these platforms we have the widest possible reach, which extends to clients, partners, analysts and industry as well as employees. I think that's a good thing.
Lisa Braun
So one idea @Hayley_Smitty had was to issue some sort of challenge like the Ice Bucket Challenge--a do good/give back activity that goes viral & is fun.
J O V.
What Social Media practices is CSC doing that's working effectively in the that needs to continue to be pushed forward
J O V.
Yes @Hayley_Smitty and I are working on a digital space and charitable project called MakeTime that enables people to share what they're doing besides work to keep they're creativity or health flowing and challenge others to do the same as w
Lisa Braun
We can probably do more "on the scenes" reporting at events using Twitter, etc. @JerryAOverton did something like that at last week's #CSCAspire event. I originally got this idea from @stroker, who said to do it w/ #Google Glass or #OculusRift.
Lisa Braun
@JovHimself Ok, I've heard you guys talk about that but didn't make the connection. Eager to hear more and/or help :)
Sherri Hartlen-Neely
@JovHimself I like this idea. I'm assuming that the types of things that people talk about would somehow tie back to how this helps CSC, makes them a better employee, etc. etc.?
Jerry Overton
Tweeting during the #ASPIRE conference made me feel like I was co-creating the experience. Really engaging.
J O V.
@shartlen Yes of course, all positive here
Lisa Braun
I think in general there should be more of a company push to use Twitter. Still seems underused or unfamiliar by many. Just my view. (And not that I'm a super user!)
J O V.
@JerryAOverton I'm really bummed out that I missed that experience, have to make sure I attend next time
Lisa Braun
@JovHimself You mean attend ASPIRE?
J O V.
I feel as though people may be afraid no one wants to hear what they have to say or cares but a platform and conversation like this proves otherwise
Sherri Hartlen-Neely
Agreed. I'd also like CSC take a proactive approach to marketing/promoting their employees. i.e. Link to their external blogs, talk about their achievements inside/outside company, etc.
Lisa Braun
@JovHimself I think that's a real point. It's about behavior change and just getting started.
Jerry Overton
@shartlen Absolutely. I'd like to see #SocialAnalytics used to help @CSC do targeted promotion of #SocialBusiness content.
Lisa Braun
@shartlen Further ideas on that? Like, promote CSCers on csc.com for public recognition? Or internally in C3? Both? Or via meaty things like compensation and benefits?!?
CSC: Next Generation IT Infrastructure, Services & Solutions
CSC provides Next Generation IT Infrastructure Services, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Big Data, Consulting and Industry Focused Application solutions
Nigel Barron
I think recognition either internally or externally would be well received
Sherri Hartlen-Neely
All of the above. Lots of employees are doing great things (blogging, volunteer work, community involvement, etc.) that should be recognized, supported, promoted. $$ wouldn't hurt either ;-)
Lisa Braun
@shartlen Ingenious Minds (www.csc.com/ingeniou...) has made inroads into linking to external blogs and LinkIn profiles. We are doing it internally in the Technology space on C3 where it makes sense.
Ingenious Minds Home
Get to know some of CSC's most innovative thinkers here, explore their unique perspectives and areas of expertise.
Sherri Hartlen-Neely
Yup, it's a good start and I love Ingenious Minds. But there are lots of other people doing great things inside and outside the company who deserve the spotlight too.
Jerry Overton
@shartlen I agree. Personally, I'd like to see more @CSC participants in Crowdchat forums like these.
J O V.
@shartlen Thats what I want to make the MakeTime project about spotlight and having pride in what you do work wise and life wise
Jerry Overton
I'd like to see more hack-athons, unconferences, and public "ask me anything" crowdchats from our leaders. Thoughts?
John Furrier
group conversations with some organized themes works great
John Furrier
bridging phyical and virtual space is very relevant now bc content event are happing in the crowd
John Furrier
Dave & I are working on a digital experience hub with video, blogs, and crowdsourced commentary. Question what would be the ideal specs for an engaging app
Jerry Overton
@furrier I'd like to support some model that combines the interactivity of Crowdchat with an informal physical presences as well: Crowdchat + Meetup
John Furrier
we see more interaction from the realtime folks at the events curating and spinning DJ to the crowd not there. Virtual is a venue and connecting that crowd to relevance is key
John Furrier
Yes lets talk I'm building this now
Jerry Overton
@furrier Sounds awesome. pls keep me updated.
Artie Kalemeris
yes and we need them occasionally as a big splash like the Ideathon we did last March. Lots of buildup, countdown, ready-set-go to heat up the excitement
Lisa Braun
The unconference, like the uncola. I like that.
Jerry Overton
@ArtimusMax That sounds like a gr8 event. I missed that. We really need a better way to browse and keep up w/events. @furrier thoughts?
Artie Kalemeris
And better tools to push outward with. A single post on C3 doesn't really cut it.
RP
Couldn't agree more; to a larger point we need to put more emphasis on tech community i.e. developers, architects, engineerings, etc.
Lisa Braun
@artimusmax is referring to Identity Jam. Agree always need better ways to push outward and to browse/keep up with events.
Lisa Braun
@ryanparadice You want to elaborate on that?
