Q2. How does #IoT impact businesses strategy with #Cloud & the modern data center?
Mike Onsing
#IoT is perfect complement to #cloud because real time and reliable data comes from devices. Business impact is very much about speed so cloud is perfect fit
Athar Afzal
A2: I think #IoT has made #cloud even more important and needed - modern data are going 2 b in more demand @iSocialFanz
Athar Afzal
@atharafzal especially a country like Canada which has been banking on its low temps to house data centers
John Furrier
I'm jumping between tech chat on AWS from engineers at Crowdchat and AWS IBM and others at #devops but this is awesome
Athar Afzal
@furrier wow - you're a good multi-tasker! :)
Mike Onsing
thanks to Brian I found CrowdChat which is best to follow along and jump in thx @furrier
John Furrier
@atharafzal I'm hosting that chat so don't tell anyone :-)
John Furrier
@mikeonsing We are just getting started soon we'll be giving top hosts the backend analytics for the autobuilding of influencers and community
John Furrier
Social influencers are "probes" in the #IoT model. People are "things" too and they throw off great data
Brian Fanzo
Q3. What’s happening in cloud and IoT to make it more prevalent! How are concepts around security evolving?
John Furrier
there is no perimeter in cloud that is radically and quickly changed the game on security. This is our top conversation on @theCUBE
Brian Fanzo
@furrier Yes I agree.. security game must change to embrace devices & technology.. have to be a team effort not security for security sake!
Athar Afzal
A3: new devices, customers demanding more & more from their devices @iSocialFanz
Mike Onsing
If you're not in the cloud you're irrelevant. New companies and new solutions are winning because they are born in the cloud. Older companies are lagging.
Mike Onsing
What examples can you guys share that show the value of #IoT ?
Athar Afzal
I would say a connected car - where it can track best traffic patterns and lead me best way to home & provide others where my car is at & how far from home.
Brian Fanzo
I wore google glass to visualize software sensors while looking at hardware... heat maps in a data center was my example!
Athar Afzal
another one is having ability to easily move from device to device - so mirroring from my phone, to tablet, laptop, my tv, etc.
Athar Afzal
also i would say that using voice commands - like "send a whatsapp message to my dad that I'll be calling him on his mobile in 10 mins" and then automatically dial him !
John Furrier
GE has some great examples. I hosted a panel on this topic with CEO of @GE last year Mind+Machines https://www.youtube....

Nest, Dropcam, all industrial machines connected to a datacenter. The intersection of physical + virtual world with #bigdata and cloud is the engine of change. #IoT will be bigger than people think.
Brian Fanzo
Q6. What devices or IoT are you most excited about and what predictions do you have for future innovation?
John Furrier
The devices that are driving value like medical and big industrial businesses. Then consumer market will come online with wearables first wave of products
Brian Fanzo
Q1. Where do you see IoT being influenced by today’s users? How has this been changing and how will it continue to change?
Mike Onsing
the application of the data coming from the devices for business value is the #1 driver
Athar Afzal
A1: I find it's abt always being connected, imagine turning the thermostat at home or having an intelligent car? @iSocialFanz
Mike Onsing
@atharafzal totally agree connected things can't be slow. Has to apply to the applications. Imagine the lights not turning on immediately. Great example Athar
Brian Fanzo
Q5. What companies are leading the way with #IoT devices that are impacting businesses today?
Mike Onsing
that GE video was impressive and I like @atharafzal home devices examples like Nest
Mike Onsing
Tesla Cisco IBM all great examples by @quadstack
Mike Onsing
I just don't get the toaster refrigerator device usage.
Mike Onsing
no you're not a fast talker Brian
Mike Onsing
Love the video in the chat room. Skills are the key and the definition is changing. It's not just datascience. It's about cross discipline skill set. Learn the language of the cloud. Love it
John Furrier
@iSocialFanz who is the guy talking right now about learning the language of the cloud - he's right on the money
Brian Fanzo
@furrier John this @Quadstack is great blogger on DCK and Networkworld and slashdot... Big fan of his for a long time can talk all sides of tech!
Brian Fanzo
Q4. With all this Innovation how has that affected today’s IT employee? What new skill sets must they acquire?
Athar Afzal
A4: the biggest thing is that adoption & openness of ppl to use these especially Gen X & older who seem 2b hesitant, disclaimer, I'm Gen X ! @iSocialFanz
Brian Fanzo
It's about embracing new technology & always learning.. IT people must understand new terms & devices!
Mike Onsing
learn the language of the cloud
John Furrier
I'm against certification in this early days
Brian Fanzo
Final Fun Question: What is the craziest explanation or example for “What is #Cloud or #IoT?”
John Furrier
Yes I did say that about iCloud thanks Brian for the plug
Brian Fanzo
@furrier I listen to #TheCube and enjoy taping into the signal coming out of all the live events I can attend!
Kelly Capo
My experience in sales lately is that I can engage an architect to help with a sales call and they are on the same page - savvy clients. #CloudTalk
John Furrier
this app is in the cloud for people chats which is #IoT application.
