Tim Crawford
Interesting perspective for #healthcare: Data-driven outcomes. #healthIT #bigdata
John Furrier
What do you think about big trends in #healthIT it's in need of transformation in a big (data) way
Tim Crawford
Healtcare is absolutely ripe for innovation. And that is an understatement.
John Furrier
Great answer coming on this from Chris Grant live on @siliconangle - he nailed it
Tim Crawford
Good POV: Boards are thinking about how to leverage data to create value. Key today.
John Furrier
Getting above the fray on the mechanics of the data allow professionals to focus on other important things; it's not trivial says Gary. RIGHT ON!
Bert Latamore
Providers don't like investing in new IT. They don't trust it to give them all the right data, & they are much more interested in pending on medical tech like imaging.
Tim Crawford
Frankly, IT doesn't always have the credibility w/ LOB. Hence resistance in investing.
Kit Dotson
@BertLatamore Medical also has a lot of thinking to do about big data processing and pooling especially because security and privacy are a massive issue. Regulatory and policy coordination is an obstacle I constantly hear about.
Bert Latamore
Adam Ind, IT Manager, Royal Flying Doctor Service (Australia) live now on #theCUBE. They use Splunk to analyze data from their planes to optimize maintenance cycles.
Bert Latamore
Matt Olson, Principal Architect, CenturyLink live now on #theCUBE with Jeff Kelly and Jeff Frick from #splunkconf
Tim Crawford
Is IT really looking to become the superhero still?
Tim Crawford
MyPOV: If IT is looking to become a superhero, they have the wrong focus.
John Furrier
MyANGLE: IT should be invisible and frictionless the value is on the business success and employee productivity
John Furrier
CIO of Red Hat is answering this question right now. Solving crisis is not always moving the business ahead in some cases
Tim Crawford
Key: Understanding the business of the CO and engaging to create/ deliver value.
John Furrier
Pat Gelsinger said "never waste a good crisis"
Tim Crawford
@furrier Sadly, crisis are typically catalysts for innovation and evolution within IT.
Crowd Captain
This is the video where Pat Gelsinger mentioned that comment https://www.youtube....
Pat Gelsinger - VMworld 2014 - theCUBE
Pat Gelsinger, VMware, at VMworld 2014 with John Furrier and Dave Vellante @theCUBE #vmworld2014 nabling brave, new IT is the bumper sticker theme Pat Gelsin...
John Furrier
Crisis can be a great oppty to mobilize the organization around key initiative #koolaidinjection
JP Morgenthal
Isn't IT in most cases still just struggling to keep up with break/fix, backlog and keeping lights on?
Tim Crawford
@jpmorgenthal To a large degree, yes. Surveys and anecdotal information supports this too.
John Furrier
@jpmorgenthal true and they have added pressure to expand capabilities and build new innovations #hardjob imho
JP Morgenthal
@furrier Traditional thinking on #IT has yet to be significantly impacted by industry changes. It's a monopoly that needs to be broken up. Big business needs to figure how to distribute responsibilities and have them market back to each other.
John Furrier
@jpmorgenthal agree and the notion of using sw to "eat IT" is theme I love bc a new generation is about to take over
