Can the group talk about the difference between predictive and prescriptive analytics in context to future of marketing? Thanks
Matt Heinz
47 minutes into the crowdchat and my brain just exploded...

John Furrier
Time for a beer Matt
Matt Heinz
Two words: Single Malt

John Furrier
We can take that topic next chat :-)
Matt Heinz
I might be thinking about this wrong, but isn't prescriptive still based on past behavior?
Matt Heinz
I get a prescription based on existing symptoms
Matt Heinz
I'd prefer to get treatment based on what's going to happen NEXT. That's predictive.

CrowdFather
Predictive is what you might expect vs prescriptive is what you need

Tony Yang
so prescription is like taking medication to address existing symptoms. predictive is taking vitamins for active ongoing health?
Matt Heinz
@tones810 vitamins vs pain killers...
Matt Heinz
@tones810 good predictive marketing is the vitamin everybody needs, unfortunately next Tuesday's "emergency" email send to hit your # too often feels like the pain killer that's needed...

Sophia L Wong
I take prescriptive to mean prescribing an action based off of behavioral data

Sophia L Wong
whereas with predictive analytics one is making a decision on a series of KPIs based on interests, context, so predictive analytics doesn't predict one outcome, but multiple ones, while still providing data so know the most likely outcome...

John Furrier
Sales cures all headaches so I like the aspirin vs vitamins; vitamins makes you stronger for the long haul
