You want to have a proper solution build for Cloud, from ground up. Most other solutions originate from classic backup approaches where CloudPoint is build from ground up with cloud in mind.

Current (often legacy retrofits) may claim cloud support but are often missing support for cloud workloads and unproven.

A3: Many solutions that address these cloud protection challenges carry a very heavy IaaS footprint and require similar administration, maintenance and specialization much like traditional backup approaches.

Also, these retrofit solutions where never really built for the cloud so may turn out very complex to run, driving up your #TCO.

A4: The beauty of CloudPoint is being able to use a single UI, or API's, to manage snapshots in multiple clouds or even on-prem arrays. Keep it simple. And with 2.0, installation and configuration takes minutes with very little learning curve.

I think one of the notable challenges in using a traditional backup approach in the cloud is the heavy and rigid architecture of such a retrofit/ deployment which makes it not only costly but also hard to manage with specialists and formal training.

Our customers are looking to have “versatilists” manage all their infrastructure in the cloud at the lowest possible cost. #CloudPoint is offering data protection for the versatilist in #Azure!

Another challenge is the often significant window that traditional methods need to backup all data. In the cloud, applications are "always-on," and any extended backup negatively impacts the application performance.

A2: Traditional backup approaches are built around the traditional data center. These Server/Client and streaming backup approaches don't always fit in cloud-native architectures.

A2: While a customer can continue to use traditional backup in the cloud, there are certainly better, lower cost options such as snapshots. Or, if needed, use both. That is the beauty of the Veritas solutions. Snapshot some data, stream/dedupe other data. The choice is yours.
