JenkinsWorld

Are you attending Jenkins World this month?

CloudBees
@kohsukekawa and @SachaLabourey - what are you each most excited about?
DevOps.com
great question!
Sacha Labourey
Hearing people share their stories, their experience. Transforming a company towards Continuous Delivery is an amazing journey. And I can tell you, in most cases this is not a straight line!
Sacha Labourey
And also the great energy emanating from all of the change agents who came to attend the conference. People know why they attend, there is no convincing needed!
Kohsuke Kawaguchi
Hmm... sleep deprivation leading up to the event? LEGO figure giveaway? Free beer in the evening? So many to choose from...
DevOps.com
@SachaLabourey pulling from previous #JenkinsWorld what companies would you point to?
Alyssa Tong
LEGO figure giveaway is a big hint from @kohsukekawa :)
DevOps.com
I actually have a nice collection of Lego figures I have built up over time
Kohsuke Kawaguchi
@SachaLabourey often somebody asking a question leads to the revelation of what/how/why they do it. Stuff that only happens when you are face to face.
DevOps.com
first question to our hosts and attendees, with all of the great sessions at #JenkinsWorld which is one you most want to see?
DevOps.com
For me KK's keynote is always a highlight @devopsdotcom kohsukekawa
Harpreet Singh
My favorite every year is Kohsuke's keynote :-)
brianvdawson
They keynote is always awesome. I also want to watch community presos in the booth.
recampbell
Personally, I'm looking forward to this talk by Harpreet & KK: https://jenkinsworld...
Kaitlin Rogers
I'm excited to hear from our sponsors during the theater sessions, too!
DevOps.com
beyond keynotes though what else are you looking forward to?
recampbell
Also should recommend this talk about moving 100 freestyle jobs to pipeline: http://sched.co/AVaz
Eric Smalling
Agreed, the 2nd one @tyvole listed sounds excellent
Kohsuke Kawaguchi
Talks from the actual usage experience is always insightful, like http://sched.co/AVaz
Eric Smalling
I'm also curious about how Sanil is doing Freestyle->Pipeline conversions: https://jenkinsworld...
Jesse Glick
@kohsukekawa yes I like to see people using things in the field…saw a great session a year or two ago (?) about creating reproducible Jenkins instances from containers, talked about the pitfalls and tricks, things I would not have thought about before
Jesse Glick
if we are talking “which speaker would I like to talk to after the talk”, definitely https://jenkinsworld... @ LesFurets.com
Carlos Sanchez
Making the Best Out of Jenkins on Kubernetes and OpenShift, but I'm biased http://sched.co/ALOM
Mandy Hubbard
I'm looking forward to http://sched.co/ALR1 I would like to learn a reliable way to test my pipelines without having to run them all the way through.
Mark Waite
I'm looking for experiences in work areas that I've not considered enough, like logging http://sched.co/Bvug
DevOps.com
On to another subject, what about social events at #JenkinsWorld, who is going where?
Viktor Farcic
If you do not see me on my workshop it'll mean that social events went out of hand the night before.
Kaitlin Rogers
I'm ready to dress up for the Summer of Love reception! Very excited about networking with our partners at our partner reception, too!
DevOps.com
@kdlinrogers that sounds really cool :-)
Kalyan Vissa
I believe there's a "Summer of Love" social planned...that sounds fun! :)
Patrick Wolf
I think it's always hard to pick social events in advance. There are so many it's best to choose that day.
Kaitlin Rogers
@frodobalboa everyone needs to get their themed outfits ready!
Kalyan Vissa
@vfarcic - do you have a clone that can fill in for the workshop? :)
Viktor Farcic
@frodobalboa I think I should record a video before coming to SF and just let someone play it if I don't show up.
Carlos Sanchez
@vfarcic I'm not sure you really want to do that :)
Mark Waite
I'm hopeful that our community booth can inspire additional contributors to help the project. #JenkinsWorld is a great place to meet and learn from others in the community
DevOps.com
That is what makes a great community event, and meeting people in person you only know online
Kohsuke Kawaguchi
last year, some of the demos on the community booth was incredibly popular
Mark Waite
@kohsukekawa I was quite surprised at the level of interest in last year's community presentations. I had a brief snippet on managing large repos and there were more interested than I expected. I'm not the only one who makes mistakes of repo size
Jesse Glick
Booth demos are especially gratifying because the audience is small enough that attendees can feel free to just interrupt and ask you to show something related but a little different. I have often wound up in hour-long conversations this way.
Patrick Wolf
@kohsukekawa we debuted Declarative Pipeline in a community booth demo last year
Patrick Wolf
@kohsukekawa and that might have been the first real demos for Blue Ocean as well.
Mark Waite
This year we're also trying for a "pull request" corner in the booth, hoping to coach and encourage new contributors. Come help us triage a bug report, write some docs, write a test, or fix a bug.
CloudBees
also Ask the Experts is always popular!
Jesse Glick
neat idea. Might be easier to guide contributors if there is a face-to-face intro on how to submit things effectively: e.g., what actionable bug reports look like and how to grab the attention of the right dev; or, making PR diffs reviewable.
Manisha Arora
Veertu will be there as a sponsor. Finally bringing the benefits of container based DevOps to the macOS/iOS dev/test.
Eric Smalling
That's awesome!
recampbell
Yes, very cool. Containers have been a big gap for iOS development. Looking forward to hearing more about this.
Kaitlin Rogers
Happy to have Veertu attend & sponsor!
DevOps.com
Manisha, looking forward to visiting your booth, please stop by our video center for an interview!
