#dataanalyticschatPitfalls of Marketing AnalysisA discussion on common misconceptions of modern marketing analysis.
IBM Watson Analytics
Welcome and thank you for joining today's chat: Does your business need social analytics?
JGM.io
I do think so. Knowing sentiment but also seeing trends can give your business a cutting edge
Orgnet, LLC
We *provide* social analytics, but also apply to our own space
Orgnet, LLC
Clients like "seeing the social" so that they know how things actually work in org/groups/teams...
Jessie Liu
I think it depends on the business. If the audience is not there on social, then there's not much information to be captured. I do agreed that if social is a big component of the business, then knowing sentiment can provide advantage.
David Clement
@jessiecliu agree that social must get their feet wet on social to have influence
Allison H. Smith
@jessiecliu there's definitely less obvious value for some business. even still, knowing your audience, even if they're not talking about your brand directly can be helpful when looking for "unknown unknowns"

Q1: How is Twitter data used within Watson Analytics and Watson Analytics for Social Media?
David Clement
Watson Analytics for Social Media allows basic sentiment analysis and creates charts for you to see results automatically
JGM.io
@easyanalytics1 @dwclement can you white label the results of otherwise process them?
Orgnet, LLC
We have found the Twitter/Watson integration very useful... creating Signal/Noise algos for Twitter
David Clement
@JGM.io no we can't white label at this time
JGM.io
@dwclement because that would serve our clients very much
Allison H. Smith
@JGM_io thanks for the idea, we'll look into it
Orgnet, LLC
@allsnsmth Would also like the option to *export* data after filtering in the Refine View
Allison H. Smith
@orgnet tell me more...export to where?
Orgnet, LLC
@allsnsmth Export data as CSV for processing in other tools Watson does not yet have... i.e. network visualization
IBM Watson Analytics
Q3: Where does Watson Analytics pull data from? Can you share some examples?
David Clement
Watson Analytics for Social Media gets data from two places. Twitter data comes directly from Twitter, and the rest of our social media data comes from our partner BoardReader, who provides us with boards, reviews, other mainstream sources
David Clement
What other sources would be good to pull from?
David Clement
Facebook will be coming in the near term
Jessie Liu
LinkedIn will be very useful for B2B
David Clement
@jessiecliu we are looking at LinkedIn

Q2: Can Watson Analytics be used for improving post reach for a personal blog?
David Clement
Absolutely, after you post your blog, use Watson Analytics for Social Media to search for how well that blog is doing and what people are saying about it, by searching on the key words and retrieving responses.
Orgnet, LLC
What online sources do you search besides Twitter?
IBM Watson Analytics
Q5: Can you specify which topic you want to use to fetch the data (e.g for your brand) and then use the other themes to slice that data?
IBM Watson Analytics
Q4: How many documents can WASM analyze?
Allison H. Smith
WASM can analyze essentially an unlimited number of documents, and guides you to the right ones via topic suggestions.
IBM Watson Analytics
We'll be using the acronym WASM for Watson Analytics for Social Media.
