How is EMC going to invent the future? In the future you have to essentially kill your old business and create a new one (b4 the competition does). What is your vision here?

Not sure you 'kill' the old business because you often have thousands of customers depending on it.

but you have to invest for 2-3-4 years out. Many big companies have stolen from the future by cutting R&D costs - not us.

@MichelleLavoie I love this topic bc most execs want to be social and engage but need direction. I remember in 2010 when Jburton joined EMC he told me that he wanted to be very outbound and modern. He's doing it.

IT budget is flat so they need to cut existing costs in order to spend on new apps that will transform the business.

Private / Hybrid Cloud is the cost cutter ... things like PaaS (Cloud Foundry) and Data Lakes are the platform for the digital transformation.
