Q: If asked to explain how data is the new digital currency to a senior executive (CxO) what do you say what proof points do you highlight? I've been asked this a ton lately. Thoughts from the crowd.

data helps innovation

Goes back to my earlier comment on the foundation of what businesses compete on nowadays. It's not your products and services, it's your customer, supplier and employee relationships. It's how quickly you can react to market insights

Anwesa Chatterjee
how would the company innovate if they dont have the data to prove what products/services they need to focus on

I do love the "currency" descriptor though. It's the type of language that can really change the #Data conversation from IT to Business.

great question - and a simple answer - how do you quantify business value? it is from the impact and quality of your business decisions and that is directly dependent on the data or insights you can gain

- data has always been the key to organizations success, but what has changed is that data used to locked up in DBs, apps, tools. Now it is democratized and open to all!

Is there any techniques for #DataValuation ? if asked to put it on the balance sheet?

#datavaluation one way to do this is put an amount against an opportunity lost - or a customer gained - or savings realized - it will all quickly add up and demonstrate the value of doing #datamanagement the right way
