Oracle is price subsidizing the low end to push competition to their turf on competitive war

My angle...why wouldn't Oracle sell hardware at the lowest purchase? It gets to mop up on database, middleware and apps #duh

I'm sorry, Larry just said "Ethernet is old" - InfiniBand is great for connecting nodes, but it's never taking over the market position of Ethernet. This battle is lost, move on.

#Exadata is not converged.It is a integrated solution. Quite a bit of difference.

A truly converged system was #IBM #PureFlex but also #Power8 servers with #PowerVM combine converged compute, memory, SAN & Ethernet in the same server.

Interesting as this seems to be an acknowledgement of #Intel inefficiency in 4 socket and larger servers.

Exadata is getting faster and faster. Now it is more reliable and has a better cost performance.

I don't see how the hardware is getting more reliable if the cost is coming down. I suspect the hardware is as lean as possible with little innovation leaving it all to software to manage.

Yeah, did you see latest Oracle Q2FY15 financials? R&D is roughly 14% of revenue with a 9% increase from last year. That’s more than 2x of IBM on per revenue basis, 5x more than HP

I heard at the last Oracle financials they were spending 12% of revenue on R&D, not 14% as Phil Dunn states. If IBM is twice as big as Oracle that negates the 2X statement does it not?

But the FS1 is a hybrid storage solution using high performance disk. Just heard #Larry state that technology is on the way out in favor of AFA or All Flash Arrays
