We are now at Cloud 3.0. V1 was about capex reduction, v2 was devops, now we're onto industry transformation

good point, #cloud enables companies to disrupt markets by quickly introducing new business processes & reaching global markets - eg Worldticket.com

barrier to entering new market because of IT build out is now not an issue...

@samjgarforth Not sure you can quite break whole cloudscape in to those 3 phases but true for enterprise IT #cloud

Agree. Economics is still key, but speed (time to market, innovation) and empowerment (for business users, developers) are equally, if not more important.

What I am seeing personally is that smaller players are moving more towards managed services using third party clouds reducing overall hosting costs

yes, IBM partners with Cloud Service Providers to give them access to our Softlayer cloud to enable them to focus on investing in mged services

it is more about flexibility & variable cost in my experience #talkcloud #smb

it gives small businesses the oppty to get access to large scale IT in opex mode #talkcloud

flexibility and ease of use must be equal benefits?

yes plus international market access

Cloud is also being used to enable better Systems of Insight giving #SMB access to #bigdata solutions and only pay for what is used

guys how do you see the IaaS market evolving with recent large players such as Rackspace changing focus?

I'm here and chipping in too

there are many #cloud providers , those that succeed are those that add most value beyong commodity VMs #talkcloud

Each provider will have their own strengths and USPs. And evolve in their own way

for those that want commodity VMs only, then only a few global commodity providers will remain

100% agree basic IaaS service is now the commodity part of the market...

there is real opportunity for partners to use #cloud to deliver specialised services for SMB eg Marketing, Analytics
