Lots of changing network services for customers; edge of the network to the core networking; both enterprise and NFV from IoT to over the top for telcos. Europe is huge for telcos. Lots of $$ opportunities
Crowd Captain
Integrated stack is huge for service providers says HP's VP Alastair Winner #theCUBE interview all the parts are there now they are moving on deploying SDN in their operations
Tim Crawford
HP Networking has made some interesting strides recently. Will be interested to see how they integrate further w/ open.
Tim Crawford
MyPOV: The security paradigm is changing. Old methods no longer work.
Kit Dotson
@tcrawford I can certainly second that. When it comes to the cloud and devices owned by employees, security no longer means defending a perimeter and more means knowing who is allowed to do what and keeping them there.
Tim Crawford
@oxidizingangel The #infosec paradigm has long-since collapsed. The problem is that many are just recognizing that.

@furrier on HP split: "Not a lot of negative backlash on that. The consensus is there really is two companies, so why not create two companies?" #HPDiscover http://live.silicona...
John Furrier
There is a good feeling more like lets getting this show on the road attitude to the split; vibe is positive
Kit Dotson
Two companies? I suppose it wouldn't be entirely unprecedented in the industry, but I've grown up getting used to HP as one computing giant.
Tim Crawford
I really need to write a blog post on this. More than 140c to discuss. :)

here is #theCUBE in @HP_Explore http://www.via-cc.at... via @mcuellar I love the Social Media Command Ctr perfect fit for reselling CrowdChat Engagement app #socialbiz

Crowd Captain
Crowdchat would be a great fit for @hp_exploer once customers get insight then need to act on them with engagement perfect tool for "active" data. love this idea

HP creating two separate companies will throw Meg back 1 yr on their turnaround imho; HP has two separate companies anyways says person at the company
Bert Latamore
@furrier Q: Will it use some of that cash to start making strategic acquisitions?>
John Furrier
HP has to do more M&A and I think that they will from my reports talking to the different groups.

@dvellante networking customers are risk averse - how does HP make sure that open source is a safer bet?
Tim Crawford
Three things that don't inherently go together: Network, Security and Open.
Tim Crawford
HP's reasons for 'open' seem better suited for HP/ vendors vs. customers.
Tim Crawford
FTR: Hope is not a strategy. At least not advisable.
John Furrier
HP has their own controller so are they commited to Opendaylight?
Tim Crawford
@furrier Sitting down w/ some of the networking team right now...
John Furrier
@tcrawford ask them their commitment to #Opendaylight and status of their own controller
Stuart Miniman
"The goal of SDN is to offer open choice at every layer of the stack, not a new line of gear across the portfolio" @razasarwar
Tim Crawford
@furrier They're punting to @razasarwar right now...
Tim Crawford
Initially, there was some question around Cisco’s influence of ODL. Now starting to evolve and HP too.
Tim Crawford
HP had a baked controller before ODL was ready to go. Now starting to converge.
Tim Crawford
HP is fully committed to an ODL controller. It will take time to converge.
John Furrier
I just talked with him privately & they are opening up their controller but going slow to align with community
Tim Crawford
@furrier Yep. He's outlining the details right now of how HP is embracing ODL.
Tim Crawford
It's obvious there is quite a bit of work to be done WRT #SDN both by HP & industry.

In HP #OneView, there is much more than what is being demo'ed.
Tim Crawford
MyPOV: The visualization within HP #OneView is key to future state data management.
Tim Crawford
Important how HP #OneView is using data to be more predictive rather than just reactive.
Bert Latamore
It sounds impressive.
Tim Crawford
@BertLatamore I've seen bits and pieces for a while as it developed. Hoping to dig further.
Bert Latamore
HP has a very strong storage story, with 3PAR an OneView and its flash storage. But has it been enough to make a real dent in the market vs EMC?
Dave Vellante
this is a symptom of shutting off storage R&D during the Hurd era. No investment so the legacy EVA storage base is declining faster than new 3PAR growth.
Bert Latamore
Sad. I think HP has a genuine superior platform in 3PAR. Among other things it allows HP to have a unified storage platform from top to bottom, from all flash down to oler all disk systems.
Bert Latamore
I also really like HP's focus on applying data analysis and automation to solve the problems in IT.
Tim Crawford
Storage is becoming less about storing the bits and more about managing the data.
Dave Vellante
Move over @furrier - David Scott is angling for a new gig! http://www.via-cc.at...
