what is the innovation strategy for Brocade?

Brocade provides network connectivity for 1st (FICON), 2nd (FC and Ethernet Fabrics), and 3rd (SDN/NFV) platforms. HW or SW.

Applications and storage require low latency, highly reliable network connections. Today most commonly deployed network for #AFA is FC.

@MattWineberg I was always a big fan of all flash array in the archecture; never a doubt; had this convo with @scott_dietzen when he founded @purestorage

Remember though all flash still is a drop in the bucket for data center capacity. That's why it's important to have a complete storage portfolio to compete sometimes.

@C_Heckart SAP is hot right now both EMC and HP are doing the alignment with SAP; EMC had Bill McDermott with Joe Tucci on stage so that was huge; plus SAP and EMC have been virtualizing HANA (and SAP) for some time

@chris_mellor I don't really mind the headline, it gets attention which is the point, and chris is usually smack-on in his POV, the underlying question is what's the future going to look like and what technologies best support it?

@C_Heckart SAP is betting big on HANA, and customers are looking to rationalize that purchase. EMC has been helping customers do just that. EMC IT just celebrated it's 2 year anniversary since Propel went live.

Clearly there are some workloads suited for in-memory PCIe flash. These still need networks for access and scale-out. These are best suited for our Ethernet Fabric tech.

I can see how that is a natural "want." I'm excited that LinkedIn is operating smoothly to and from #CrowdChat. I've developed quite a network on LI. This will help me engage with them while simultaneously introducing them to a valuable new platform.
