What is CrowdChat?

CrowdChat is a one stop solution to hosting #hashtag chats across multiple social networks.

This doesn’t look like Tweetchat? Why should I use it?

CrowdChat brings structure to Tweetchats while also preserving the conversation. It is essentially like Tweetchat, with all the updates sent to Twitter and the #hashtag automatically appended. But it does much more, like back-linking with Twitter cards and preserving the Question / Answer format of the session. Voting allows interesting content to bubble up, even after the chat ends. This body of work can later be shared anywhere as a transcript.

Do all users need to sign in?

No. Anyone visiting your unique spot link (CrowdChat.net/<your-hashtag>) can see all the updates.Participants who want to vote, answer or ask something would need to sign-in via Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIN.

What is the post box for?

You can post ideas and questions, which can include web links, videos or photos.

What is the reply box for?

Type “@” to reply to other people in the thread. It will auto fill with the handles/names of other people in the conversation so you can ping them on Twitter/Fb/LinkedIN and let them know you are replying to their post.

Are these updates sent to my social media account with the #hashtag automatically appended?

Yes, by default comments are sent to the social media account you chose upon sign-in. To opt out of posts being sent to your social media account, simply uncheck the box next to your comment.

What is maximum length for my updates?

280 characters. Your posts will be intelligently shortened for Twitter with backlinks. Research suggests 280 chars is too short for effective discussions. For example:

Are updates made through Twitter and other websites directly shown on CrowdChat?

No. Only updates sent to Twitter/other sites through CrowdChat are shown.Anything that does not originate in CrowdChat is not shown.

Why are the live updates paused?

When you are invested in typing something, we limit the fireworks of updates. Just click resume when the pause alert shows up and you would like to receive the new updates:

How can I have a successful chat?

1. Before the chat starts, line up about 6-8 excited contributors for your chat that will help you promote and get it started.
2. Invite followers from Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIN.
3. Ask questions and encourage your Crowd to answer. Tell your Crowd to vote for their favorite content so the best contentbubbles up to the top of the feed.
4. Encourage posting updates to Twitter (This will give a Tweetchat experience for others on Twubs, Tweetchat.com).

What sort of analytics do you provide postchat?

All sorts of web analytics + custom social-analytics for Twitter, including reach and impact.

How can I archive or delete a chat?

If you want to create a new chat with the same #hashtag, the old chat will be archived when the new chat is created. To delete chats, chat hosts can simply email us at support@crowdspots.com and let us know so we can take care of that for you.
