@jr_horton can you expand a little bit about what that stability means for our customers?
J.R. Horton
one of the themes of our new release is around enterprise-grade security and stability
HPE Cloud
@jr_horton Does this new release also include the HP Helion OpenStack Community?
Tim Crawford
JR, can you talk a bit more about what that means?
J.R. Horton
how do we help customers get more visibility into the health of their cloud is an area we expanded in this release
J.R. Horton
we've also added the ability to provide encryption of data in transit for consuming and integrating with the main services
Tim Crawford
In the 1.1 release, among a number of improvements, stability is a key one. @jr_horton can you talk to that a bit more?
J.R. Horton
Absolutely, we discussed earlier where we updated the OpenStack code from Dev-2 to Juno stable branch
J.R. Horton
we also discussed where we have added additional security around encryption of data in transit for integration/API consumption
J.R. Horton
we also provided more tools and capabilities for an admin to get more visibility into the health of the cloud and the different components that supports the platform
Tim Crawford
@jr_horton Security is a big concern for folks looking at cloud.

I recorded a Podcast with our Chief Security Officer last week http://h30499.www3.h...

@tcrawford what did you mean by HP cloud strategy being an Enigma now in an earlier tweet today? Happy to help address any concerns there.
Tim Crawford
My comment @ cloud strategy enigma has more to do with a void in the leadership/ vision.
Bobby Patrick
There has been a recent change but the management and strategy here is intact and commitment to strategy is solid
Tim Crawford
It has more to do with consistency in leadership from the new model, not classic HP execution.

@tcrawford Do you see users looking for specific OpenStack features or are they looking for the entire set of projects? Do some projects matter?
Tim Crawford
MyPOV: There are lots of Q's about #OpenStack. Leveraging a distro provides the access.
Tim Crawford
Does the HP edition support all OpenStack projects?
J.R. Horton
Yes, the HP Helion OpenStack 1.1 supports all of the current Integrated OpenStack projects in addition to a few experimental ones such as Designate (DNS)
HPE Cloud
JR - Can you talk about how this new release enhances compatibility with our HP Helion Development Platform?
J.R. Horton
That's a great point, the HP Helion platform which is made of the HP Helion OpenStack for IaaS and HP Helion Development Platform for PaaS
J.R. Horton
as a fully integrated platform providing customers with a unique proposition to develop the next set of applications allowing enterprises to be more agile
Tim Crawford
@jr_horton Should only those interested in PaaS be interested in HP Helion OpenStack?
HPE Cloud
J.R. - Can you give us some basic ideas of what is new in this release?
J.R. Horton
We are very happy to be releasing our newest release of HP Helion OpenStack version 1.1
J.R. Horton
The main focus for this release was stability.
J.R. Horton
When we released HP Helion OpenStack 1.0, it was an early release of Juno (based on Dev-2) and we wanted to update to the most stable Juno branch with this release.

Tim Crawford
Many are challenged with approaching private cloud. How does this release help enterprises in the journey?
J.R. Horton
This release provides enterprise customers looking at a stable and enterprise-grade platform with the right entry point as they begin their cloud journey
HPE Cloud
@jr_horton Why is it better to use a HP Helion version of OpenStack vs doing it yourself?
J.R. Horton
A great reason to use HP Helion OpenStack is our focus on enabling an organization to provide the right tools, not just install/deploy a private cloud, but only what is needed to manage and maintain it once it is deployed
Tim Crawford
Doing it yourself requires challenges most aren't able to address. Using a distro presents a lower hurdle for most.
HPE Cloud
@jr_horton I also believe that our excellent professional services enables a better final solution
J.R. Horton
That's true, there is more to cloud than just having the right platform, it also had to do with how prepared and ready an organization is to change
J.R. Horton
Our Professional Services can help guide a customer in this readiness journey as well as provide technical skills and gaps a customer may have in their environment today.
Tim Crawford
Thanks for inviting me to participate. Great start to the conversation. More needed!
