What is IronKey's ideal customer use case?
Marina Donovan
Any enterprise or government looking to secure their data. We have the most secure flash drives and Windows To Go drives on the market.
John Furrier
@Marina__Donovan Is there a certain size enterprise or is it all enteprises?
Marina Donovan
Our drives are also manageable so if they get lost or stolen, no worries. We can do a remote wipe or disable the device.
Leon Brown
For Secure Storage, anyone looking for a logically and physically impregnable USB device - that is fully manageable @IronKeySecurity devices are ideal.
Leon Brown
For Windows deployments, providing contractors and mobile workers with @IronKeySecurity Workspace is popular as cost is low and security is high.
John Furrier
What are the top public conversations you guys are having and joining in the #security space? or at #RSA15
Marina Donovan
We have solutions for power consumers or the largest enterprises.
Marina Donovan
we also sell our products online in the US http://bit.ly/1JoRJL...
Leon Brown
For #security @IronKeySecurity provides the best security for data-at-rest on encrypted USB devices and Window To Go. Manageable, secure, widely deployed and used by enterprises and governments globally.
Leon Brown
Another use case is in regulated industries - if you need to know data is secure, an IronKey provides security if a device is lost or stolen.
John Furrier
What are your thoughts on the growing trend of attacks via USB such as BadUSB and Equation Group?
Leon Brown
We have a good post on BadUSB.  http://ironkey.com/e...
Crowd Captain
btw: The Equation Group is a highly advanced secretive computer espionage group which does lots of identifying malware etc
Leon Brown
BadUSB and Equation Group just show that bad actors move quickly. Your best action is to continuously work on security.
Crowd Captain
@leonnyan how does enterprises know things are secure
Leon Brown
BadUSB can defended via signed code which IronKey does on all its devices.
Leon Brown
@CrowdCaptain Security is like locking your home - often you increase your home security when you buy something new or have a child.
Leon Brown
@CrowdCaptain Enterprise security is similar - you put in place the best you can afford based on the risks you identify.
John Furrier
gr8 stuff Leon: how does this relate when it comes to securing mobile data
Leon Brown
IronKey Workspace - a full manageable, IT secure-able, Windows OS on encrypted USB. Portable, can be secured with whatever DLP/AV products you use, and impregnable if lost.
John Furrier
Q2: Which do you think is more secure – a laptop or a secure USB? what are the concerns with USB based #security solutions?
Leon Brown
An IronKey Workspace, a secure USB device, with hardware encryption is more secure and more portable than laptops. It is all I use.
Marina Donovan
- I think a secure usb that acts as a PC can be way more secure than a laptop, especially with IronKey
John Furrier
What security are you currently using for your mobile data? USB is great for laptops I see that but what about mobile?
Leon Brown
Windows To Go, a Microsoft Windows SA benefit, is turning out to be a huge hit now - we're seeing a lot of uptake now that people are getting use to Win8 and seeing the benefits of a portable OS.
John Furrier
@leonnyan Why is that use case so popular?
Renae Cazet
@marrelmiguellao @CrowdCaptain curious to hear what you're using for mobile security?
Crowd Captain
@renaecazet I am at the hands of the app not anything implemented we use cloud #SaaS so we don't know what we are exposed for
Leon Brown
@CrowdCaptain Security is tricky - SaaS just means your doing some part of your work via a cloud. Any time you move content to a local device - a laptop, Workspace, USB device - you have to be wary of how data might leak if a device is lost.
John Furrier
Now we have wearables and other connected devices so this game only gets harder. It's complicated. How can it be simplified
Leon Brown
We simplify by making it easier for end users of products to know they are secure - IronKey devices are secure by design - use them and data can't be breached. We'll need the same sense of security from consumer product manufacturers!
John Furrier
Q1: What's the big trend at #RSA15 and in #enterprise #security right now
Leon Brown
With data breaches and information security being hot topics, we're looking forward to discussing how enterprises can secure their mobile workers
John Furrier
it is a device issue or infrastructure hw or sw issue ??
Leon Brown
It's complicated. :-) Security is a moving target - at IronKey we're focused on the mobile workforces security. The end point.
Marina Donovan
it's a device and a people and policy issue. you need to have the right devices and policies for employees.
John Furrier
@Marina__Donovan sounds like this makes it more complex for the enterprise - both ops and product issues
Marina Donovan
- What are you thoughts on this?
Leon Brown
An IronKey Workspace, a secure USB device, with hardware encryption is more secure and more portable than laptops. It is all I use.
John Furrier
@Marina__Donovan the people piece is cultural issue which reflect on operations and usability; devices are diverse now so having a secure std platform isn't the norm so I can imaging the challenge to secure it all
John Furrier

John Furrier
Q3: Top Cloud Security Concerns for Business: Employee Misuse and Access Control - What does this mean?
Marina Donovan
- it depends on what's cloud and the content that resides on that cloud. access control is key.
Leon Brown
Keeping track of both structured and unstructured data is a big concern. Access Control is one method by which you can keep track of who is seeing/using what.
Leon Brown
But on top of Access Control, data governance and policy also are in-play. Many customers need to know that data at rest is safe at all times - no matter where it resides - this is often dictated by policy - where content can be used or stored.
John Furrier
Q4: Do companies allow use of USBs? Why or why not? Is security a factor? Do you think secure USBs aren’t necessary?
John Furrier
@arianagradow I have always thought USB is a killer solution bc everything can be encrypted on the key and with user mobile using apps on prem and cloud it's a good execution of security
John Furrier
@arianagradow Security always has a user error component even with crypto solutions; user error is always a consideration
Renae Cazet
@CrowdCaptain We use USBs to transfer large files sometimes, but don't always think about the security involved - is your company the same way?
