Aging populations and huge increases in chronic diseases consume ever greater share of government budgets.

According to the WHO, by 2050 four times as many people over the age of 60 will need help caring for themselves than is the case today.

While I agree with aging populations, I also believe the consumer is demanding it rather than starting over with every care provider.

Right and consumer interest will play a big role in adoption.

I think another significant value of integrated care will be to focus on younger populations and focus on healthy lifestyles, to reduce long term costs

How emerging economies can be helped through this?

I agree with Brenda, it is about information sharing and teamwork, and we can all benefit - but we absolutely need it now for complex citizens

Thats right. Fragmentation is a big issue. Lots of well-intentioned programs. They are hard for policy makers to fully understand and nearly impossible for individuals and their families.

Having good child health, education and employment prospects provides the best possible foundation for good health, without these elements we can expect to see more people failing to thrive

'Foundation' is a key word there, countries need to take a long term view and enable this through legislation, funding etc
