C-suite Study Chat
Insights on the Global C-suite Study and on what the future holds for today's C-suite.
THINK Leaders
Q1: What is the most unpredictable risk the #Csuite is facing today and why? http://www.via-cc.at...

Craig Milroy
. @IBMTHINKLeaders #disruption from relatively unknown or new entrants to the market or industry
Kulbir Singh
the convergence of industries, as you've got to be continually assessing the emerging disruptors to prempt the intersections of play
THINK Leaders
Let's get this question answered!
keith Burgess
Climate change?
Eric Lesser
Kubir is right - what we found from our CXOs (over 5000) is that the convergence of industries is the most challenging issue they are facing right now
Kulbir Singh
new permutations of traditional industries can be assessed with an inward view, but the path forward is to shift the lens to the digital invaders & evaluate their crossections with your served industries
keith Burgess
What's that in English?
Pierre Kauffmann
@elesser does convergence means less diversity?
Sheila Sidhu
the biggest risk is not reexamining every part of your company's strategy in light of digital disruption
Kulbir Singh
everything about social, cloud, mobile & analytics is serving the customers real time. the tech environment is getting exponentially capable of delivering experiences & thats where traditional firms struggle to play catchup
Pradeep M Samuel
Changing business models and new market entrants
Vala Afshar
Data allows us to listen, engage, communicate, and act faster and with greater accuracy than ever before.
Anna Dreyzin
how do you take advantage of data? How does it impact your job?
Vala Afshar
An experimental mindset - one that is subject to a high degree of iteration - requires a data-driven approach.
CorporateCitizenG
My whole job revolves around data (benchmarking data). I agree with your sentiment overall, but I'd also love to see a statistic for the % of data in the world that is 'dodgy'. And yes, I know 'dodgy' would need to be defined... ;)
Steven G. Snyder
@CorpCitizenG You mean garbage in garbage out?....
CorporateCitizenG
And not always just 'garbage in', but also 'honest data, just not matched to same framework as rest of data' or 'not able to be interpreted in the way you want'
Steven G. Snyder
I have a book called how to lie with statistics on my bookshelf... :) @CorpCitizenG
Eric Lesser
@CraigMilroy how do you keep innovation labs from becoming disconnected from the business?
THINK Leaders
Great question @elesser! What do you thjink @CraigMilroy?
CorporateCitizenG
Keep them in front of your clients more than in front of white boards and new tech
Craig Milroy
They need to become an extension of the business... Business 2.0 .. they can not work within a silo and expect to deliver value
Vala Afshar
accelerators like @TechStars work with Nike, Microsoft, Disney to accelerate innovation.
THINK Leaders
Q3: What should CxOs change to avoid being "uberized"? http://www.via-cc.at...

@ValaAfshar @elesser looking forward to your insights!

Bob Pulver
need to keep focus on needs of target audience, not products. Products can pivot to have unpredicted uses
Astrid F. Kowlessar
@pulvereyes Absolutely - too much emphasis on product design can miss the ever changing market needs
Natsuko Miura
"to be reminded that competition is an open system... and never be afraid of self-cannibalizing" - said CxOs from the launch event last week
Jill Hamilton
Seems that there's no predictability any more. The only boundaries are your imagination and a computer.
Gillian Orrell
Agree. I recently wondered what I could have done if I'd studied IT... and then realised it would be no different. It's down to proactivity, ingenuity and persistence as technology leaps forward. Looking forward to the Steve Jobs film in this regard.
Else M. Melchiorsen
... no matter where the imagination and the computers 'sits'
THINK Leaders
Q5: How will cognitive capabilities help the C-suite stay ahead of the game? http://www.via-cc.at...

Welcoming your thoughts @elesser @ValaAfshar @Marshall_SJ @CraigMilroy and everybody in the chat!

Bob Pulver
Cognitive can help understand the signal amid the noise for agile, data-driven decision-making
Pete Teigen
through faster and better decision-making
Damian Corbet
What's interesting from the C-Suite study is how few CEOs utilise social media. It's such an amazing resource - more should be made aware of its potential. #CsuiteChat
Anna Dreyzin
why do you think that is?
Damian Corbet
Simply lack of knowledge, Anna. Education is required.
keith Burgess
Same reason why IT is often not represented on the board.
CorporateCitizenG
@adreyzin Perhaps there are some CEOs who make great use of social media using pseudonyms/aliases and keeping it hush-hush. Otherwise, I guess the issues are time and focus. CEO time is precious and focus has to be laser.
Eric Lesser
Where do people think the next wave of disruption is going to come from?
Pete Teigen
humanizing computing through cognitive, analytics done at levels beyond human capabilities
THINK Leaders
As we start to wrap up I want to thank everyone for participating! Thanks @ValaAfshar @elesser @Marshall_SJ @CraigMilroy @DamianCorbet and everyone else!
Vala Afshar
thank you so much for an incredible discussion today. @elesser and all were terrific!
Damian Corbet
Happy to take part. My first #CsuiteChat and it won't be my last!
Damian Corbet
I got this great quote from @ronandunneo2, CEO of O2 in the UK: "CEO social is the equivalent of walking the shop floor."
Raluca Oda
will remember this one...
