The cool thing is that clients are asking "how to deploy" not "if" Virtual #SAPHANA

And I'll bet we have some tips in that area...what tips could you give to the crowd in how to deploy a Virtualized SAP HANA?

agree. See more customers saying they want to build a private cloud to deliver HANA as a service internally, and the virtualization question is now: how to do it, not if it is possible.

customers all over the world are responding very well both to the experience EMC is showing through EMC IT implementation, as well as to EMC's drive for SAP HANA TDI and HANA on VMware. Many HW manufacturers are still only talking appliance

Every client meeting here: people wants to learn more on TDI & Virtual #SAPHANA

Yet I still get people in EMEA responsible for driving SAP HANA adoption that are completely outdated on VMware support with HANA and the dramatic oppeness TDI has brought.

Not everyone moving in "real-time" then? :-)

@vGazza I would say that EMC EHC is for cloud operations and IT processes in the same way SAP ERP was for business process simplification and standardization. EHC leverages leading automation pieces like EMC VIPR along side with VMware vCloud Suite

I believe flash can help on customers with extreme workloads where things like long savepoints and long startup times are a problem. But there is a new "generation" of flash coming that I believe will transform the way we look at flash today

the current state of #AFA should not provide huge benefit to an app that reads on RAM

but I agree with @revaewten that great things are coming

but the value of flash is hard to perceive with current architectures. What I see is that the connectivity and IOstack of current operating systems bring lots of challenges. EMC is working on breakthrough innovations that will address this

@vGazza you are right. In current architectures we se limited to no benefit of "traditional architecture" based flash arrays. Indeed most of these systems have been optimized for reads, and to perform with HANA optimizations need to be done for writes

@vGazza that's why there is a need for a paradigm shift, and EMC is working on that. Let's wait for the news to come! :)

the message I'm liking the most so far of this TechEd is the increased oppeness of HANA and the new possibilities announced under the TDI program, like the support to run HANA on Intel E5 CPUs.

so far still on controlled availability for multiple VM on the same server, and work underway for scale-out support. But last week in VMworld I heard first hand both from SAP and VMware that things are "looking good" on both projects!
