Techcom2014 - Circle Back
Replaces typical survey. Bring live feedback about the conference--what has changed/happened since?
lewis richards
Best thing for me was the makeup of the attendees, it was a completely new crowd to me (this is a good thing) as it meant we finally had the right people attending THEIR tech conference
lewis richards
@LisaAnneBraun This has always been the key missing element for me. This year it clicked the majority who attended were the people who should attend
Artie Kalemeris
It was a huge struggle to get people there, but WELL worth it.
lewis richards
@ArtimusMax and well worth it too! its the value add of the communties that formed by bringing these groups of people together rather than 'management' that has the value.
lewis richards
@ArtimusMax obviously the lack of group yoga was major disadvantage ;( ha!
Max Hemingway
Interested to see how you will top Google Glass and Oculus next year
Max Hemingway
thats an important point you raise about being "THEIR conference" - the attendees should be the ones who carry this on afterwards
lewis richards
@Max_Hemingway Yep! couldn't agree more
Jerry Overton
@Max_Hemingway Start giving 'em away: you get an Oculus! and you gent an Oculus!
lewis richards
@Max_Hemingway Full Tank Immersion i'll be wiring stuff into your head directly next year
Max Hemingway
look forward to reading that paper
Max Hemingway
#CSCtechcom - more online streaming for others would be good for some of the sessions. Options for other sessions
lewis richards
I also think we should encourage live blogging at the events as well so that the wider populace have people they can subscribe to call them 'TechCom Journalists' and rotate people every year to have a go would encourage 'safe' blogging
lewis richards
@LisaAnneBraun I was thinking a mix of types we have a couple who write blogs and a couple with Google Glass who do short video interviews with attendees and cover the sessions for reactions as soon as they are done
Chris Fangmann
@stroker can we make it mandatory?
Lisa Braun
@stroker Will save/capture your idea. Would be great "man/woman on the street" coverage.
Rich Reba
@ChrisFangmann this may be a very tangible / actionable way to make progress in social media savvy on individual development plans
Chris Fangmann
@richrebajr I'm all in - bonus based on re-tweets and re-blogs\
Matt
@ArtimusMax I think that DataScience was a prime example, 100% oversubscribed, queues at door, surely could have easily live streamed from theater to big screen in one of ballrooms?
lewis richards
@richrebajr @ChrisFangmann let me be the first to volunteer for blogging duty next year. I also think we should encourage people to be more inventive with the presentation tools they use, so many cool ways to put content together now
Chris Fangmann
@stroker @richrebja - Lewis, you're definitely a leading example here. Can we take the iPads that were given to Sales and are un-used and re-distribute to active bloggers?
J O V.
Goodmorning everyone ! As I am new to CSC and 2014 being my 1st TechCom, I would love if you all could share some insight on hows it's changed/grown and whats been improved ?
Lisa Braun
Much heavier technology focus, breakouts and sessions non-stop, SharkTank was new and appeared well-received, lots of training, etc. Others should chime in here.
Chris Fangmann
@LisaAnneBraun Lisa, you're spot on - focus on tech was the main difference to TBSC's in recent years - and no sales participation
Bo Rodric
I do wish it overlapped with the Sales Conference like in years past, that was a unique opportunity to network with the sales organization (the one day overlap) which we have missed the last few years
Lisa Braun
@BoRodricCSC It's true: nothing happens without sales. There must have been a reason to go back to separating the 2.
Matt
I'd agree, TBSC was really good, but had a "sales" edge, this one was all about technology and partnerships. 7am Starts and 11pm finishes!
Christian Klöppel
One major question: Why are no breakout-video-replays available? As we prepared for our gig, the tech-guy told us that this would happen... There has been much value in the breakouts!
Bo Rodric
Same question... I've looked for them for a while hoping to share some with my teams.
Max Hemingway
the breakout sessions would be useful or to see the slides at least
Christian Klöppel
@Max_Hemingway Slides are avail, but not the video. But slides only won't get the messages across...
Artie Kalemeris
Unfortunately we didn't tape the breakouts. Not enough money. Next year's organizers should seriously crowdsource a low cost option for that. We missed a big opportunity.
Matt
@ArtimusMax Hi Artie, Each od the sessions had large scale production cameras and a team of operators, surely the "big cost" was covered?
Bo Rodric
@ArtimusMax Recruit http://new.livestrea... volunteers
Livestream | Watch or Broadcast Live Events
Livestream is the Leader in Live Video. Find out how Livestream can help you broadcast your event live to viewers on any device.
Artie Kalemeris
Nope. Many thousands of dollars more to record (cameras were just projecting onto big screen) and edit.
Bo Rodric
Another idea for next year is to stream the general session and/or breakouts live... there are many people that couldn't make it this year that would have liked to see some of the content.
Chris Fangmann
And it'd be so easy (of course we'd need to make sure no car crashes into network room in hotel....)
Christian Klöppel
I loved it! Though i really enjoyed the breakouts, i'd suggest to focus a little bit more an a coherent storyline next time, having a better alignment between the different presentations
Sherri Hartlen-Neely
I'd also like to see more of a tie to the rest of the business. How do our technology activities/expertise grow the business, get new clients, expand existing business, etc.
Chris Fangmann
Yes - and also we need to tell our partners once more the purpose of the event - there have been a few sales sessions....
Jerry Overton
I have to disagree. I think the "big red diagram" from @richrebajr really tied together the conference.
Carl Kinson
I thought this years TechCom was a great Event, it brought together a true technical community. Hoping next years is bigger and better.
Lisa Braun
I have heard noise they def want it to be bigger!
Chris Fangmann
@LisaAnneBraun "They" being "us"? :-) I guess we all want it even bigger
Lisa Braun
@ChrisFangmann "They" = TechCom powers that be ... ! And yes, us.
Sebastian Morick
What do you think about the idea having the general sessions as video live stream for every CSC employee. Would this make sence to transport the messages and techcom spirit even better...
Soren Helsted
video streaming would expand the conference beyond the conference hotel and together with more social media coverage would be great to engage more colleagues
lewis richards
I'd like even more 'outside' in thinking next year. I think we would all benefit from having more perspectives from people from a range of disciplines so that we can start to make leaps of imagination. So people from medical and cultural aspects as well
lewis richards
With the pace of change we need to bridge our thinking and to do that we need to ensure we engage with thought leaders from outside Tech so that we work out cool ways Tech can empower
Lisa Braun
I really appreciated the legal session, even though it was a more casual evening session. IMO that made it even better.
Matt
I agree, one of the things that I enjoyed in TBSC was one of our customers in Health explaining how 3d Printing was bringing revolutionary thought and prototyping to medicine.
Chris Fangmann
It'd be great to get industry reps talking about customer experience a year from now (i.e. exp that reflect our technology transformation, our nextGen etc)
Artie Kalemeris
Let's hear it folks. What's really changed as a result of #csctechcom? How are we acting more like a community? Did we extend the community beyond just those who attended?
Christian Klöppel
From my PoV, the overall idea of the 5 Big Conversations has "reached" the tech crowd, with more and more initiatives in the regions being aligned to this
Chris Fangmann
Hey Artie - we definitely extended beyond attendees - word spread fast, of course resulting in a lot more applicants for attendance next year :-)
Nisarg Jha
I am working on getting the Agility / Service Mesh for one of CSC's customer. I was impressed the way entire demo was conducted around this technology !!!
Max Hemingway
Yes - with a few others started the #CSCChorleyTech community and @DanHushon joined the initial session
Jerry Overton
loved the addition of @CrowdChatApp. it let us extend #csctechcom to a wider community.
