great opinion there
Oren Carmeli
do you think all countries should have the right to decide how to interact with their environment? or should there be global laws dictating order?
Oren Carmeli
Life gives you power over your choices. I think the current global opinion is we are very far from the end, thus we aren't too concerned about our wrongdoings with nature.
Oren Carmeli
There should be laws that constitute what we can do globally to sustain our planet for future generations
Matt Manning
@Oren_Carmeli The US already has some in place. The lumber industry by law has to plant more trees than they cut down.
Matt Manning
Every country has a different set of circumstances + natural resources, so it is near impossible to have Global laws which can accurately govern every country. Optimally, citizens should vote within their own elections on environmental issues
Oren Carmeli
@Matt_Manni Good point, however I think actions done in a country can effect the well being of citizens in other countries. Thus, I think everyone should have a say in the decision.
Oren Carmeli
I also think our society will need to acquire resources from asteroids and other masses in space to make up for our deficiencies
Robert Pujol i Vives
@Oren_Carmeli Asteroid are very far and What could happen if we increase proportion of one or two elements in nature?
Oren Carmeli
There are so many useful resources to be taken from asteroids that it seems inevitable for us to try at some point. I think the reward surpasses the potential risk
CrowdChat
@oren_Carmeli Certainly. Maybe there should be a global governing body to start specific environmental initiatives, but the extent to which the initiatives are followed can be decided country by country.
Matt Manning
@Oren_Carmeli (^woops) Also I agree about the asteroids. We could find new materials/elements and learn a lot about space from them.
Oren Carmeli
@CrowdChatApp I just hope that each country makes decisions to help their citizen's well being not just in the short-term, but long-term as well
Jim Canto
@CrowdDr Your post has me curious. :)

NASA predicts that space travel will be commercialized in the next 50-60 years. What are your thoughts?
Kelsey Mulcahy
I think it would be really cool but not sure if it's feasible in my lifetime.
Oren Carmeli
My astronomy teacher told me that it will be feasible in our lifetimes. It's happening!
Alec Furrier
Space shuttles will replace airplanes for across the globe travel, it will take only about an hour to get to China from the US.
Oren Carmeli
I bet there is less turbulence in space
Oren Carmeli
Hotels in space will be the coolest thing
Alec Furrier
1000 mile high club? Ha!
Jim Canto
There should not be any turbulence in space. And...I'm thinking I'll see commercialized space travel in my lifetime...and I'm 48. :-)
Oren Carmeli
@JimCanto I can see a commercialized space travel very soon It depends how much time and money is spent in research
Oren Carmeli
https://www.crowdcha... We recently discovered a new planet only 16 light years away from Earth. Gliese is in a similar environment than that of Earth's, could it harvest life??

Matt Manning
Scientists say it would take us 100,000 years to get to our closest star system Alpha Centauri which is 4 light years away. Hopefully travel technology improves soon...
Jim Canto
Yeh... 16 light years is only... hang on a sec... let me get my other shoe off so I can count.... 94,055,556,960,000 miles. Imma need more toes.
Jim Canto
Plus.. Gliese 832c looks cold. #wheresthebeach?!?
Oren Carmeli
From the colors in this picture, it almost looks like there is water thus maybe there are beaches
Jim Canto
Yeh...but I'd have to set up my chair on the ice instead of the sand. ;-p
Oren Carmeli
You don't need to bring a cooler at least

Can't wait to see the pictures and data collected by them. It'll hopefully blow away the images from the hubble telescope

Cosmic Inflation... Any thoughts? http://www.space.com... (Check out the infographic)
Cosmic Inflation: How It Gave the Universe the Ultimate Kickstart (Infographic)
Inflation is the mysterious force that blew up the scale of the infant universe from sub-microscopic to gargantuan in a fraction of a second.
Alec Furrier
Yes, I've seen this. Expanding faster than the speed of light is pretty damn impressive, and it's probably what gave scientists the idea of a warp drive.
Oren Carmeli
But isn't the speed of light the quickest any piece of matter can travel through space? Does that mean the universe is a different substance?
Jim Canto
The idea of the universe "expanding faster than the speed of light" is rather frightening.
Oren Carmeli
It seems like a case of special relativity, and perhaps the universe is teleporting through space
Jim Canto
Mind boggling.
Alec Furrier
@Oren_Carmeli Space itself can move faster than the speed of light, which is why we will never see some parts of our universe, as it is expanding too fast. But within that "space-time" there is a "speed limit" which is known as the speed of light.
Jim Canto
@AlecFurrier I repeat; Mind boggling.
Oren Carmeli
https://www.crowdcha... A rare iridescent cloud is formed from a plethora of water droplets. When the sun is in the right position, sunlight is diffracted in a way that creates this marvelous image.

Kelsey Mulcahy
woahh that looks like snow.

NASA unveils space suit fit for Mars | Science News
NASA’s newly revealed Z-2 space suit is the second mock-up of a suit that NASA hopes will eventually protect explorers walking on Mars or drilling into an asteroid.
Oren Carmeli
Looks stylish to me, where can I buy one?
Alec Furrier
They actually had the public vote on the suit aesthetics back in April, looks like "Technology" won! http://jscfeatures.j...
Z-2 Spacesuit Design Vote
We have a winner! With almost 150,000 votes, the "Technology" design will be the look of the upcoming Z-2 spacesuit! Please continue to check http://www.nasa.gov/exploration/technology/advanced_space_suits/index.html for future updates and photos!

great chat you're having; space is loved by geek
Drew Bratcher
@CrowdChatApp what are your thoughts on space?
CrowdChat
It makes mankind feel infinitesimally small and irrelevant
Oren Carmeli
@CrowdChatApp It makes us feel small, but it gives us an understanding who we are, and what's the future
Oren Carmeli
I also think it will play a critical role in our economy and survival as resources on Earth become more scarce
Jim Canto
Here's one I've got to read...but haven't yet: http://www.nasa.gov/...
How Will NASA's Asteroid Redirect Mission Help Humans Reach Mars?
Capabilities and technologies used in the Asteroid Redirect Mission will help us become Earth independent and enable future missions to Mars.
Oren Carmeli
Great read, NASA is planning big advancements over the next couple years. Docking on asteroids will be a key factor for us to learn more about the cosmos
Jim Canto
@Oren_Carmeli Thanks for the heads up. I still have not read it.
