FirePhone

Amazon's Fire Phone
BIG NEWS! Amazon announces its first ever smartphone.
the_blue_wizard
When does the #FirePhone come out?
Oren Carmeli
I've heard the #FirePhone will be available on July 25.
Oren Carmeli
There will be a $200 32GB model and a $300 64GB model only through AT&T.
James Smale
@Oren_Carmeli I think I would go with the $200 model
the_blue_wizard
I think I'll go with the iPhone 6
Oren Carmeli
Let's see what happens when we can get our hands on it in a month!
the_blue_wizard
I still think the iPhone 6 will be better. Same screen size, thinner, lighter, faster, better camrea, way larger App Store. Plus iOS 8
the_blue_wizard
I'll give the Fire Phone one thing the one handed turning of pages and things looks neat. If it works well I think it would be an intersting feature. But I'm also worried about battery life. All those sensors on all the time. Gonna be short battery
Kelsey Mulcahy
yes I agree about the battery life, and I think data usage will also be an issue. If they can figure out those two things then they'll be good
the_blue_wizard
True. But I don't think people will go to it for the 3D feature. People want to know ts gonna be good. Like they know an iPhones gonna be good. Also the App stores bothers me. It's not very big with not many good apps. No good App Store no people
Oren Carmeli
The 3D feature is progressing towards virtual reality which I think is the future of video games and applications
Crowd Doc
everyone uses apps now, I can't imagine not having a great app store
the_blue_wizard
Well my friend next to me has his kindle out. And has talked about it. It's like a little bit better then the blackberry store. Nt many apps. Apps are expensive. And the store doesn't update a lot
Matt Manning
Well now that there's a certified phone, I'm sure there will be a lot more app development. Whats a smartphone without apps?
the_blue_wizard
True. But if it doesn't sell well also it won't have many apps. I think they need to have a good devolpentb software like what apples had for apps. They need to push it a lot. But I still think it won't do well better then FB about the same as Sony
Oren Carmeli
I find it impossible for there to be such a big demand, and nobody trying to reach the market
the_blue_wizard
So I feel like it's okay. The specs done look as good as other phones. Plus not a large App Store. Ik people who have a kindle the apps are not good. Gonna be another blackberry App Store. Plus I feel like to min is riding on the 3D for them
Oren Carmeli
What do you think about the Mayday Customer service feature? It offers 24/7 service in 15 seconds or less!
Oren Carmeli
This is a very innovative feature that has not been done before
the_blue_wizard
I feel like it's good just won't be used very much. How many Poole really use a customer service. Bit I've also never used amazons is it good?
Oren Carmeli
I haven't used their support either. But, I think people will more likely use it because it will be more accessible.
Matt Manning
Wow that is a major let down! Though, wasn't the iPhone at&t only when it first came out?

@TrulyJulie9 you are quoted in my CrowdChat. Would like if you'd join. http://twitter.com/T...

I was so excited about the #FirePhone for about an hour. Until they announced it was #att only. :(

Kelsey Mulcahy
@Matt_Manni yeah, likely they will add it to other networks later
Oren Carmeli
@Matt_Manni At&T had exclusive rights for the iPhone, but it didn't take too long until it was carried by other service providers.
Oren Carmeli
@kelsey_mulcahy why do you think AT&T was given exclusive rights to the #FirePhone
Julie
@Oren_Carmeli iPhones were exclusively AT&T for 5 years. I really don't want to wait that long.
Crowd Doc
I think they are trying to follow #apple model for selling. But they should come up with something new.
the_blue_wizard
it worked and still works supper well for apple they want the same thing. I think it's fine of they do that
Matt Manning
@Blue__Wizard Makes sense to me as well. By the time it's available on other carriers the phone will be fixed of bugs and further refined
Crowd Doc
I am most interested in the 3D or hologram effect that is coming with this new phone. If it works as it says it does, this will be innovative and next step for phone tech. http://goo.gl/Ba9hc9
Apple's iPhone 6 rival: Amazon to unveil 3D smartphone with hologram technology
The sci-fi device has taken three years to perfect and reports say it uses four infrared cameras with an advanced retina tracking system

@martin_fischer I want to see a video of how this dynamic perspective works. Seems to be a bit of confusion on this feature. http://twitter.com/m...
martin_fischer
Not 3D, just dynamic perspective. The #FirePhone has a sensor system that "responds to how you hold". #Amazon http://t.co/256YY08y...

I think this is the future of handheld devices.
the_blue_wizard
I think moving things with your hands would get annoying. What if I acidently move my hand or switch positions and stuff gets all moved around. Or if the phone turns on in my pants and I'm walking around
Julie
Is it so wrong to want unlimited data when using a #FirePhone?
Kelsey Mulcahy
yeah, I always go over my data and it gets so expensive.
Oren Carmeli
Cheap unlimited data plans could attract a lot of people especially younger kids that watch a lot of videos on their phones
the_blue_wizard
that's what I'm worried about. Over data usage. And over battery consumption a

took them long enough! but probably because they are making it awesome. the features look cool
Oren Carmeli
Amazon appears focused on developing hardware announcing this phone on top of their array of devices such as the kindle and various tablets.
Oren Carmeli
@CrowdDr @kelsey_mulcahy what do you think is the most innovative feature?
Kelsey Mulcahy
I'm liking the 3D capability. Hopefully it works as well as they say it does.

@fcwic1 This made me chuckle! #amazon http://twitter.com/f...
