What are your ideas/plans for creating a more engaging experience with Crowdchat?
Mark 'Rizzn' Hopkins
I think gamification elements would be great. I'd love to see compatibility with ChangeTip or something like it, so I could vote with my cryptocurrency as well.
John Furrier
Crowdchat is for professional social media execs and pros; measures all the conversations
John Furrier
Our argument is that the way professional social media around engagement is done is inadequate and not effective for users/producers
Mark 'Rizzn' Hopkins
Crowdchat is naturally viral, and the more people who use it, the more engagement you get.
John Furrier
Instagram is something coming
John Furrier
FB Whatapp and Instagram
Jim Canto
Integration with Instagram? GREAT idea.
Jon Wilson
You mentioned users and producers. How is Crowdchat more beneficial to content producers?
Mark 'Rizzn' Hopkins
Comments are essentially broken on most platforms (YouTube, most blogs, etc). Crowdchat integration is something that can potentially fix that broken model. Beyond that, I can see a future where Crowdchat IS the CMS (liveblogging, etc).
Kit Dotson
@rizzn I've found this to be especially true, social media/comments would be an excellent way to find interested people from blog posts and videos but it's hard to find a system that works even some of the time.
Jim Canto
@rizzn Interesting that you mention "CMS" ... as I believe this is where the big money is. From my first experience with CrowdChat, I've imagined it as part of a greater "whole" product... a CMS. I'm trying to figure out a mashup myself.
Jim Canto
...unfortunately, I don't write code. Therefore, I have to come at it from an "embeded" model approach.
Mark 'Rizzn' Hopkins
Jim: Knowing what little I do about the backend, and comparing it to other newer CMS's that are out there, there's only a few cosmetic changes that need to happen before it can start to become an effective CMS for newsrooms-style blogging.
Crowd Captain
Jon: CrowdChat allows producers to leverage their social graphs and create a "CrowdStorm" of content in the crowd with the resulting transcript as content for general consumption post chat
Crowd Captain
One feature in product today is "private messaging" – between people in the crowd independent of their friend/follower status on other networks; liked minded people connecting on their own (value)
Joe Gilgan
@furrier agreed - this is but one of many, but perhaps THE key area of engagement.
CrowdChat App
This conversation is good!
Jim Canto
I'm still hopeful that the video container, which can be utilized by the chat admin, will be expanded to accommodate a wide array of embed-able widgets. More specifically... live streaming video and audio. That seems key to or for me.
Kit Dotson
I very much look forward to a system that will work alongside videos, especially because one thing missing from both comments/chats with video participation is the sense of fireside or couch conversation.
Jon Wilson
A lot of Youtube channels and Multi-Channel Networks would love this idea. It would also be useful for tons of live events I see posted to Youtube every day. The old social chat features of similar live event systems needs an definite upgrade.
Jim Canto
Yes.. and then, if we're able to tie multiple accounts to our login, we could hopefully then choose which comments get shared to which platform...driving relevant viewers back to the CrowdChat.
Jim Canto
That can be a tangled web though.
Mark 'Rizzn' Hopkins
Jon: YES THIS! Any comments around live or on-demand video just seem to be completely borked (racist, inflamatory, spammy or otherwise objectionable). Better integration with video will be a godsend.
Kit Dotson
I run a Twitch stream weekly -- it would be interesting to see how a threaded Q&A format could facilitate expert commentary and bring in Twitter/Facebook/etc over the standard scrolling chat.
Jim Canto
Take a look at http://be-at.tv (via Desktop Web browser or iPhone app only) and imagine one of those events embedded in a CrowdChat. Seems a perfect match to me.
Jim Canto
Or.. "The Cube" embedded in a CrowdChat. Why not? Seems logical to me...but I'm no programmer...so I have no idea of the logical or legal challenges.
Jim Canto
@oxidizingangel Perfect, Kit! Imagine live, platform-neutral, real-time, text-based conversation happening while your streaming a game? Seems natural and appealing.
John Furrier
@JimCanto video and chat are two different user experiences my feeling one has to be optimized over the other
Jim Canto
@furrier The reason I'm seeing a need is... when I attend something like #cmgrhangout on Fridays... there's the live hangout...and the hashtag based Twitter Chat... and it requires two windows open.. creating a severe disconnect in the user experience.
Jim Canto
... yes, optimize for chat first... but consider opening that container up top to accommodate the various things folks want to chat about. I can see commercial applications as well as just plain fun. And.. fun works. :-) *brainstorming here is all*
Jim Canto
All things considered... this is a very unique platform. And, the cross-platform capability is a fundamental requirement from my perspective. Kudo (as always)
Ariana Gradow
@oxidizingangel I think that CrowdChat provides a sense of "fireside conversation" because the conversations are in real-time, especially when the chats are limited to an hour or so.
Ariana Gradow
@JimCanto I agree with you here. It would be fun to chat live while watching something live.
Jim Canto
@arianagradow It has been done as a trial and it appeared successful.
Jordan Melliadis
Youtube, Ustream, and Slideshare content can now all be embedded in the chat description!
Jim @ CWPBIZ
Thanks, Jordan. Sorry for the delayed reply. That's really great to hear though. Soooo... what else can be embedded there soon?
Mark 'Rizzn' Hopkins
What is Social 2.0 for engagement?
Kristen Nicole
I think CrowdChat is very close to where social 2.0 is going: mobile, status-format w/ability to reply and vote directly, AND follow threads. just makes sense on multiple levels.
Kristen Nicole
maybe an option to share back out to multiple platforms, not just the one you signed in with
Kit Dotson
Social media has already shown a networked "feed" structure that is well colonized by apps; 2.0 would entail taking those networks and building-on transformative services. Crowdchat, Storify, ways of jumping from static media to social.
Jim Canto
Agreed, Kristen. I know there are multiple schools of thought on this. However, in keeping with platform neutrality, it would be great for users to be able to share outwardly to the platform most relevant to the individual moment.
Jim Canto
Then again, Kristen. I often find that I'm more interested in keeping the conversation localized to this platform. However, the need to cross pollinate is probably of greater importance. Tough call.
John Furrier
love this question
John Furrier
The public crowd (people) “interactions” generates lots of data (content) across many interests (hashtags) - adtech for social is future of social 2.0 #crowdbiz #socbizchat
John Furrier
The public connected consumer “The Crowd” (people, interactions, data) will transform user experiences and how companies advertise. Disrupting the idea of engagement, content creation, trust, opinions, and influence.
Crowd Captain
Social 2.0 is technology crowd platform & application that connects social media professionals and brands To engage in trusted conversations with other liked minded people using #hashtags
Crowd Captain
Great value and businesses can be built off this crowd activated social data networks, starting with mining the valuable crowd activated data to matching contextual people with opportunities from content-campaigns to commerce
Joe Gilgan
@furrier - "playing" to follow thread & the placement of my 'reply to comment' in the GUI.
John Furrier
@missrogue hey all posts in CrowdChat go to Twitter and we build the interaction on Twitter after they are posted here
Crowd God
Awesome question!!
