Do you also see performance as a concern for SAP Fiori apps , one of my client prefers #Angular
Yariv Zur
Not really no. We have now customers with hundreds of thousands of employees running fiori without performance issues. Obviously - Angular is a valid option. Question is - what do you gain from UI5?
Yariv Zur
@OliverGraeff - that was your queue :)
Oliver Graeff
Especially if this is about a business/enterprise app, SAPUI5 is preferred. It is evolving, especially in areas related to performance and incorporating/enabling new web paradigms...
nabheetmadan
agreed. my another question is why to reinvent the wheels when we great tested frameworks like #Angular #React
nabheetmadan
@OliverGraeff agreed so are we also saying SAPUI5 will eventually bring in concept web components PWA etc like #Ionic and other framework does? or am i missing its all there?
Gregor Wolf
You can already write PWA's with UI5
Oliver Graeff
Exactly. We will modularize SAPUI5 and e.g. separate the rendering of UI controls for the underlying programming model. This will give us much more flexibility in exactly this regards
nabheetmadan
@wolf_gregor gr8 let me google did not know this
Gregor Wolf
But why do you want to reinvent the wheel if there are standard SAP Fiori Apps (already over 1000) and implement them from scratch in Angular? Also think in the direction of accessibility, i18n and coherent design.
nabheetmadan
@wolf_gregor agree actually the question was overall from SAP choice of going for a new framework all together. if we see in blockchain i believe we have resused hyperledger rather than developing anything from scratch lole in UI5
Oliver Graeff
SAPUI5 is THE technology of choice for web apps. Also within SAP its use is extended to many more solutions and applications. And while leveraging its enterprise qualities like security, I18N, design as @wolf_gregor put it, it will also include the 'new stuff'
nabheetmadan
cool thanks for inputs cleared my certain doubts ๐Ÿ‘
Douglas Cezar
I have created a UI5 application that is used by a company in remote forests, here in Brazil. They don't have the best devices neither the best connectivity. People work on open terrain and, still, the users are very satisfied with app performance and we have very high adoption.
Jessica Merz
That is great to hear! I know I, for one, would love to see that app.
Douglas Cezar
In this particular case, this app works both online and offline so we can count on UI5 for both performance and robustness
Douglas Cezar
@jessicafmux Sure! Let's talk and I'll show you.
Jessica Merz
Great! I've sent you my contact info.
nabheetmadan
great will it be possible to share the experience/challenges on SCN so that we all can benefit.
SAP Cloud Platform
Where can developers gain hands-on knowledge on how to develop web apps using SAPUI5?
Gregor Wolf
I would suggest this @opensap course: https://open.sap.com... and the Getting Started section of the documentation https://ui5.sap.com/...
Jessica Merz
To start, the SAPUI5 SDK is a great place! https://sapui5.hana.... Documentation, demo apps...
Oliver Graeff
And to understand UI5 high-level, look at https://www.sap.com/...
Jessica Merz
@OliverGraeff Aha! I was JUST about to suggest that link as well. Great minds.
Oliver Graeff
@wolf_gregor would you like to see an updated openSAP course on UI5? What is missing?
Gregor Wolf
@OliverGraeff an update with a focus on how to extend SAP Standard Apps and using SAP Fiori Elements would be highly apreciated.
Jessica Merz
@wolf_gregor I'm curious if you have used SAPUI5 Flexibility Services at all (yet)?
Gregor Wolf
@jessicafmux involved in a project that uses a ABAP 7.40 backend and @sapcp Portal in the frontend for a Customer Portal. Using Annotations from ABAP to power Fiori Elements List Report

How can customers benefit from Fiori Cloud? โ˜๏ธ
Aviad Rivlin
#FioriCloud helps you simplify the implementation of #SAPFiori. By leveraging #cloud services you gain automatic updates for the Fiori app, #sapUI5 libraries, etc. and simplifying your on premise landscape
Vera Gutbrod
I recommend this blueprint giving guidance, and directions for using SAP Fiori Cloud to increase employee productivity and satisfaction by modernizing the user experience https://www.sap.com/...
Britt Womelsdorf
That's one GREAT blueprint!

A big thank you to our panel of experts and everyone who joined us today! It was great chatting with you! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
Jessica Merz
Thanks for setting this up. I look forward to doing this again.
nabheetmadan
agreed. A big thanks to everyone for this quick 60 minutes dose with tons of informations๐Ÿ™
Britt Womelsdorf
It was awesome - I hope we can do it again!
Tamas Szirtes
see you next time
JITENDRA KANSAL
great thanks eveyone for making it happen, already looking forward for next! @sapcp @SAPMobile @SAPMentors @sapcommunity

๐Ÿ” What are three ways your current job role would be positively impacted by a better digital experience?
Martin Grasshoff
Since I entered SAP, I enjoy a paper-free office. That is already a very nice digital experience :)
Britt Womelsdorf
@mgrasshoff I was going to say the same thing....I kringe every time I have to print something.
Martin Grasshoff
At this very moment I'm in a digital experience and joining a crowd, chat for the very first time with our customers: conversational, web, twitter, multi-channel - I think this is an improvement
JITENDRA KANSAL
As asked by one of community member,
1. How frequently new updates are released on SCPms?
2. How are they released on production environment?
3. How much notice customers get for new releases? Where can they test these releases?
Britt Womelsdorf
Mobile Services generally gets updates once a month.
Martin Grasshoff
1. MS has a monthly release cycle
Britt Womelsdorf
On aspect of our release cycle I really like is the "Preview" account. In Preview, you get to see what's coming to the production landscape two weeks before it actually gets deployed.
Britt Womelsdorf
Are folks out there using Preview? It's a balance - getting innovation in the hands of customers as quickly as possible, while at the same time giving visibility to customers about what's coming!
JITENDRA KANSAL
Also, for each release, there is a youtube video post highlighting list , should subscribe to it

Gregor Wolf
3. helped one customer last year to get an offline mobile app to production on SCPms. There are very happy. No issues due to the releases.
Britt Womelsdorf
@wolf_gregor that's what we like to hear...production...offline....no issues ;-)
Gregor Wolf
