Here we go! Question 3 on HR http://www.via-cc.at...

Sherri Sirotzky
Are you seeing HR bringing more people in from the Marketing field due to the synergies needed in this new work environment?
Katey Hopper
next generation of HR professionals will be digital. Livechats & instant responses to show employee needs are prioritized just as much as customers.#FutureOfWork
Jeanne Meister
@katey_hopper your re so right! We are experiencing a live tweet chat and to follow with a transcript of our discussion. I can see this being used in a team meeting with #HR
Lane Billings
Nextgen HR pros will need to be UX experts; create HR tools people love to use.
Dan Schawbel
I think the next generation of HR is going to come from other departments, especially markteting @IBMSmtWorkforce #FutureOfWork
Kaitlin Noe
@lanebillings absolutely! where you start to see HR taking on almost more of a marketing role!
Phylicia Teymer
@jcmeister Oh yeah! For example, in social media marketing - we also have to include social listening + data measurement then provide actionable insights back to the business - same would go for HR data. You'll need an HR data translator :)
Jeanne Meister
Does this mean #HR should be recruiting more in #Marketing departments to ensure they have this skill?
Lane Billings
@katey_hopper imagine running HR support for employees the way that airlines operate cust support on twitter. "chat" a challenge, get an instant response.
Jeanne Meister
Looks like curation of data is another new skill for #futureofwork
Shannan Smith
@katey_hopper agreed! A digital focus is key, as almost half of the workforce can be classified as millennial.
Stephanie Watkins
Next gen #HR professionals will need to be digitally savvy - I'm thinking online forms, forums, livechat, social. A lot of overlap with marketing. #outthinkchat
IBM SmarterWorkforce
Fantastic ideas. Would love to hear your thoughts on the latest questions posted above!
Phylicia Teymer
@jcmeister I think Marketing & HR can help each other. Recruiting is essentially marketing. You have to go to where your consumers are, understand and communicate w/ them in order to get the candidates w/ the right skills.
IBM SmarterWorkforce
We want to hear your thoughts! Here is Question 2 http://www.via-cc.at...

Jeanne Meister
New roles range from Data Scientist Head of Employee Experience and Marketing and Internal Comms
Kaitlin Noe
@jcmeister how are these new roles interacting with other departments?
Jeanne Meister
What others roles does everyone see being created in HR in response to #digital #HR #futureofwork
Phylicia Teymer
@jcmeister Yes, Jeanne - A data scientist will be critical. Someone has to be able to provide actionable insights behind the HR data
Jeanne Meister
@kaitlinnoe I see new roles interacting in a cross functional way some under the head of Employee Experience as in @Airbnb example in @forbes
Dan Schawbel
@PhyliciaTeymer LinkedIn had a report that in 2015 "data scientist" was the most in demand job.
Jeanne Meister
@PhyliciaTeymer and it is booming clear #HR is starting to recruit more computer software engineers to join the #HR team
Jeanne Meister
@DanSchawbel And @HBR says Data Scientist is also one of the most highly paid jobs for #futureofwork
Lane Billings
@PhyliciaTeymer really intrigued about how the role of data scientist takes shape within an HR context...imagine they would have a wealth of insights on employee performance and success factors. #outthinkchat
Katey Hopper
New HR roles are necessary to bring back a sense of community in the office. Office outings? Happy hours? Development opportunities? Check. #FutureOfWork
Phylicia Teymer
@DanSchawbel Nice, stat, Dan. The "basic" skills necessary to be a data scientist will need also need be understood by #HR leaders, too.
Phylicia Teymer
@lanebillings Lane, yes a lot of data. I'd also like to see how a data scientist would incorporate future "wearable" data, such as fitbit data of employees, and what actions/steps could be taken from it.
Kyle Cowan
LIVE #streamingvideo is a great way to communicate with your entire workforce. Better engagement and increases productivity. #clarity
Kaitlin Noe
I totally agree - and how do we think about taking technologies like streaming video mobile as well?
IBM SmarterWorkforce
Good point! We would love to hear what you think about our latest questions in the chat - seems like you have a lot of great insight into HR
Lane Billings
yes! getting a remote workforce comfortable with #streamingvideo is an equally important movement.
Phylicia Teymer
mu@lanebillings Lane, if I could Favorite this multiple times I would. We need our leaders to embrace transparency through video. It's builds the both the org & individual brand & brand community.
Jeanne Meister
yes teams need to be using #streamingvideo and #collaboration platforms to embed these as a new way of working #futureofwork
IBM SmarterWorkforce
Q1 - Please be sure to respond to the question below! http://www.via-cc.at...

Jeanne Meister
HR Teams working together across Marketing, Real Estate & IT See my Forbes: http://onforb.es/1rp... #outthinkchat
IBM Analytics
A1: HR teams can now find key insights on existing or potential employees by analyzing the vast amount of unstructured social media data. #outthinkchat
Jeanne Meister
And we are seeing the new role of a Data Scientist in the #HR team
Lane Billings
it's impacting the way we evaluate employee performance -- moving to mobile optimized feedback platforms and even impacting the frequency of evaluations.
Robin Joseph
Yep. We're just converting it as HR SCIENTIST" role, which tends to discover and implement new strategies in HR Management and using database as well as managing unstructured database.
Dan Schawbel
Teams have to be more agile and leaders have to be more flexible and open @IBMSmtWorkforce #outthinkchat
Robin Joseph
This helps much in the field of recruitment while we, HRs looking out for experienced candidates, we can REDUCE the time spent with the candidates for the interview.
Stephanie Watkins
Digital is making #HR a lot more measureable and engaging than the past. It forces HR teams to be innovative and responsive in real time @IBMSmtWorkforce #outthinkchat
IBM SmarterWorkforce
Q5 is one of the most important questions for ANY industry - what do you think? http://www.via-cc.at...

IBM Analytics
A5: With predictive analytics, proactive HR professionals can determine probability of individuals leaving the company. #outthinkchat
Jeanne Meister
Excellent talk by @GinniRometty on power of cognitive to change the @futureworkplace http://bit.ly/1V16jS...
IBM SmarterWorkforce
#HRAnalytics are a hot topic - now's your chance to weigh in! http://www.via-cc.at...

Victoria_A
You would hope so. I think if they want better employees than seeing what works and what doesn't based off of analytical data needs to be something they start doing.
Sherri Sirotzky
Are many of you still analyzing data in spreadsheets? If not, what are you using? Are you able to make predictions from it?
Jeanne Meister
Hurdles in making progress include both a mindset and skill set shift on understanding the power of data for #HR #futureofwork
Jeanne Meister
does anyone have one example of how they are using #HR data to change how they are sourcing candidates or retaining employees?
AnywhereWorkday
A2. We're seeing more opportunities for #HR professionals who can develop, manage culture within remote teams, some of which now can #workanywhere #futureofwork
Kaitlin Noe
Absolutely, I agree! Mobile & cloud particularly are making HR processes more on-the-go
IBM SmarterWorkforce
Very true! Thanks for your input. Make sure to post your answers below the question so everyone can see what you have to say :) - AG
Jeanne Meister
@kaitlinnoe yes #HR is being transformed to focus on the experience rather than just a focus on efficiencies
