Yes, hybrid cloud is one of those new tech models. But how about Data as a Service, which enables the bi-modal model? What's your take on this?

One of the digital challenges is to stay in control of your own data. Your data is an asset - has IP, privacy and (future) value - while computing and networking are just exchangeable utilities. So cloud computing and cloud data ask different approaches.

Real challenge is when your customer want digitised products, while your process only can deliver physical ones. Companies with a Chief Digital Officer show better economical results. Becoming really 100% digital is a challenge for many companies today.

Is a software-defined approach a must-have for businesses? The #GartnerSym crowd may have a view on that.. EMC and our partners have been pushing for this for a while.

#IoT is busines as usual to IT (=Big Data) but new to business org with integration and security challenges. Key is to get these two organizations to work together and respect each other's capabilities

I could imagine that this way of working requires new skills for IT pros. They're no longer just technologist, but have to understand the business more.

a lot of customers often claim that they spending a lot of time to simply keeping the lights on with existing infrastructure, which is one of the modes, but how to cope with the second mode - where agility and speed is at the forefront?

The first ‘mode’ of IT is how most traditional large applications are handled in the enterprise: Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Exchange etc., and the second mode handles some of the new analytics and web based apps that are emerging. Clearly different.

As I discussed in my blog post (https://www.linkedin...), I think, there are 3 challenges for the enterprise to deal with as they pursue their own transformation programmes to equip themselves for the Bi Modal IT context.

1. choosing which platform you develop each new application for. 2. choosing which applications to redevelop and 3. planning the journey from an unstructured Bi Modal context to a defined one

First mode are the Systems of Record - the back office - and second are the Systems of Engagement - the front office - Between them the Systems of Insight - your smart or big data - Is that a third mode?

I agree with what he said: the biggest challenge of #IoT is not data growth but getting the business & IT orgs to work together on data management.

Praveen also spoke about how converged infrastructure transforms how enterprises are deploying, operating and scaling next generation data center cloud platforms.

Good and effective data management will be the largest challenge for ICT development the next years: governance, compliance, meta-data management and risk management.

The predictions are always impressive: By 2020, 35% of the population in mature markets will own at least one wearable electronic device. Imagine the implications on Big Data, Cloud and the whole industry.
