Q1: In 140 characters or less, what is workload automation?
alexandra thurel
Orchestrating workloads to ensure optimized and reliable execution of business and IT processes
Francesco Brillante
If was life automation I would have been able to schedule a ready-to-drink espresso each time the alarm rings early in the morning :)
IBM Service Mgmt
Now that sounds like a great way to use automation!
Arcangelo Di Balsamo
or like someone said, with workload automation you can forget about "cutting your grass and feeding your cows" :-)
Franco Mossotto TWA
The best way to automate your processes, integrating heterogeneous systems and reducing manual errors
IBM Service Mgmt
Q2 is posted above. Feel free to keep commenting on this one and scroll up to see the new question.
Franco Mossotto TWA
You may not know, but most of the thinks you are doing everyday are probably possible thanks to IBM workload automation running in backgroud
IBM Service Mgmt
Very true @FMossottoTWA, 80% of the top Fortune 25 banks use #workloadautomation!
Paromita Mukherjee
It's all about being able to efficiently manage workloads in a today's hybrid environment
Luigi Presti
It's a software tool that reduces or eliminates manual intervention and allows us to be more efficient and more productive
Emilio Spatola
It is a software that helps you to "expand your time" avoiding manual operations
Alessio Fioravanti
It allows to automate repetitive operations and manage
your jobs in the most efficient way.
Fabio Barillari
it allows to control your critical business application unattended
IBM Service Mgmt
Q3: How is cloud computing impacting workload automation?
alexandra thurel
Cloud can be seen simply as a new infrastructure model where the same workloads may need to be managed
alexandra thurel
A Workload Automation solution need to adapt to cloud infrastructure to run workloads in hybrid environments
alexandra thurel
and enable dynamic scheduling on pool of systems, automatically provision new machines to manage peaks of workloads
Franco Mossotto TWA
The need to orchestrate and integrate heterogeneous systems is always there.
Francesco Brillante
IBM #ServiceEngage offer a #workloadautomation cloud solution... it can be explored here: https://ibm.biz/smbl...
IBM Service Mgmt
Thanks @athurl! It sounds like hybrid environments are very beneficial to managing and scaling for big workloads.
Franco Mossotto TWA
If all is on Cloud, IBM Workload Automation on Cloud is perfect to orchestrate that with almost no effort
Franco Mossotto TWA
If there are machine both on Clound and on Premise, just install the agents and IBM Workload Automation on Cloud will handle them in few minutes
Alessandro Baroni
@IBMServiceMgmt The impact is double: the WA software itself has to be able to run in the cloud and at the same time has to integrate with all the cloud based services availabe. IBM Workload Automation checks on both this requirements
Luigi Presti
With workload automation on cloud, you have the opportunity to get the latest Workload Automation features even before classical on-premises users.
Francesco Brillante
That's right Alessandro! Easy integration is a key to success for cloud computing and workload automation.
Warren Gill
the question should be, how is workload automation affecting cloud computing!
Francesco Brillante
@netman31111 completely agree Warren :) just think on how the power of #workloadautomation can be used to build application on #cloud with #bluemix
Alessio Fioravanti
With Cloud Computing it's possible to use the Workload Automation as a Service
Fabio Barillari
I cannot think to #cloud, #SaaS, #pass and #iaas without a scheduling service. The best one IBM #WorkloadAutomation
IBM Service Mgmt
Last question! Q8: How do you think #workloadautomation will change in the next 5 years?
alexandra thurel
Getting more intelligent .. cognitive automation that will advise on optimization options
Luigi Presti
Workload automation will address the needs of everyone, not just of companies.
Franco Mossotto TWA
The mission is always to allow users to do more with less
Warren Gill
next thing to automate is automation itself... what can YOU automate?
Francesco Brillante
the possibility of #automating processes will be available to everyone, everywhere, everytime through #mobile and #selfservice automation
Warren Gill
Internet of Things will need to be automated too.
Paramesh Waran
there won't be any technology, which cannot be automated
Amanda Tenedini
I dream of the day when I can automate my house cleaning like the Jetson's!
francesca curzi
Key strategies with opportunities: analytics to support intelligent decisions, hybrid with automation integrated in every channels, mobile.
Alessandro Baroni
@AmandaTene if @iRobot 's Roomba has any API support we can start working on a solution based on IBM Workload Automation :)
Amanda Tenedini
That is excellent news! If only Roomba scrubbed bathrooms too haha
IBM Service Mgmt
Q4: How can analytics help build more intelligent workload management solutions?
Francesco Brillante
Today, Analytics and Job Prediction are used for What-If scenarios by IBM Workload Scheduler. For instance you can understand what happens to your plan if some of your workstation are unavailable during a certain time interval.
Arcangelo Di Balsamo
Predictive Capabilities in job scheduling allows you to be proactive rather then reactive: it's easier to extinguish a small fire and almost impossible to manage it when the whole building is burning
Franco Mossotto TWA
The new what-if allows to predict impact of an outage on your workload with just few clicks
IBM Service Mgmt
Are analytics built into the IBM #WorkloadAutomation solution (cloud or on-prem) or an add-on?
Franco Mossotto TWA
You can be alerted if some issues may impact your critical workload
Arcangelo Di Balsamo
if you don't take the right actions when you see a potential delay of you critical job, you can trigger a domino effect that can put the in jeopardy the reputation of your company !
IBM Service Mgmt
Q5 is posted above but feel free to keep commenting on this question.
alexandra thurel
Yes, Analytics capabilities are built in the IBM solutions
Franco Mossotto TWA
Analytics is coming out of the box with IBM #WorkloadAutomation, you don't have to purchase any additional component or product
alexandra thurel
Our solution manage millions of jobs daily. Those workloads need to run on time, and deal with unattended events. Exploiting the history of workload execution is fundamental to allow greater reliability and optimization of processes.
Francesco Brillante
The new web console of #WorkloadAutomation comes with new #predictive and #analytics functionalities already available.
Warren Gill
What if you could find repeating patterns in seemingly random occurrences?
Francesco Brillante
@netman31111 repeating patterns could be easliy spotted and fixed with new reporting functionalities and the what-if analysis tool. https://ibm.biz/BdXv...
Warren Gill
reduce failure rates by finding anomalies
