Can you talk about how EMC's employees are able to be more mobile? What does Syncplicity allow the employees to do?
WissamHalabi
With Syncplicity, EMC employees could securely access their data from anywhere on any device.
WissamHalabi
With Syncplicity, EMC employees could securely access their data from anywhere on any device. They could also share a large file that couldn’t be shared by email because of the limit with their customer
John Furrier
as real time becomes important how can EMC stay ahead of static firewall rules to give employees access to cool apps
WissamHalabi
John, we'd love to talk to you on how EMC IT handles different cloud application access from network/firewall perspective - please reach out to your account team and ask to be connected you with EMC ITProven to discuss this topic
Steven Carr
You mentioned below rolling out Syncplicity to 50,000+ EMC users. Was there a lot of resistance from the users?
WissamHalabi
At the beginning yes, users didn't want to accept the EMC security controls
WissamHalabi
But later on, the adoption grew and people started using it
Steven Carr
What was the result? Did users continue to use insecure solutions?
Steven Carr
How did you facilitate adoption of #syncplicity?
WissamHalabi
No, once they are migrated, they started using the EMC solution
Steven Carr

Great to meet you @wissamfhalabi thanks for hosting this Q&A

How do you ensure that the data is secure in Syncplicity?
WissamHalabi
Using our on premise Atmos storage, we have control of the data. Additionally, we turned on few security policies on Syncplicity in the cloud to ensure the data are secure
Sara Kleiman
How are new EMC employees provisioned #syncplicity?
WissamHalabi
Once a new employee is hired, an account with email address is automatically created. At the same time, a request goes to the Syncplicity team to prevision his/her Syncplicity account
WissamHalabi
We are working on automatically creating a new Syncplicity accounts using the API that was released early this year
John Furrier
How does EMC IT handle new API based apps (platform 3) with the strict firewall rules #emcworld
WissamHalabi
If you are asking about Syncplicity cloud app, the client uses outbound https (port 443) to get out the Syncplicity orchestration layer in the cloud
Sara Kleiman
Did you face any resistance from users?
WissamHalabi
Yes, at the beginning to the users who were using unsecure Sync and Share and didn't want to accept EMC security policies
Sara Kleiman
What were you major challenges during the rollout?
WissamHalabi
Applying security controls (i.e. a Sharable link expires in 10 days and must have a password). Users who were using their own Sync and Share cloud solution didn’t have any security controls –once they are migrated, they didn't want these security controls
