Why Russia No Longer Fears the West
The West is blinking in disbelief – Vladimir Putin just invaded Ukraine. German diplomats, French Eurocrats and American pundits are all stunned. Why has Russia chosen to gamble its trillion-dollar ties with the West? Western leaders are stunned beca...

love the perspective but hate that its true "Brussels today, Russia believes, talks about human rights but no longer believes in it. Europe is really run by an elite with the morality...make money at all costs and move it offshore."
Tim Mulcahy This is not simply a Europe thing....Capitalism sparks those who's game is that of winning at all costs. "I win and you lose" whether it is social or economic. Russia is just not as good in masking its demands.

The EU is hypocritical, no sanctions or asset freezes or visa bans when the Bahraini authorities killed over 120 and injured thousands, in fcat the EU said they were right to restore law and order. Hypocrites.
Kelsey Mulcahy i thought that the EU did freeze the assets of the Bahraini authorities- or was it only temporary?
Mandz_Orp
@Kelsey Mulcahy Not that I am aware of, I do know that they said "one should understand the authorities were right to restore calm and order and that's what they've done", over 120 dead and thousands injured....as I said, hypocrites.
Kelsey Mulcahy true. i actually think only the hungarian pm wanted sanctions. definitely double standard there

@kelsey_mulcahy Yanukovich is the democratically elected President of Ukraine. Elections exist for people to express their will, the Ukrainian people did, they rejected the pro-EU Tymoshenko, they elected the pro-Russian Yanukovich. Free and fair election.

The markets are punishing Russia more swiftly than diplomats ever could
Strongly worded statements, threats of travel restrictions, and summit no-shows. So far, these are the relatively mild diplomatic implications for Russia of its incursion into Ukraine, as few in the West can stomach an open military confrontation wit...

Ben Tremblay Nothing wrong with skeptical; lots of good reasons for that.
But here's more the problem: "Millions of Ukrainians are rising up waving Russian flags!! Stop watching your gay newsmedia America!"
